Do you guys have plans? Do you have to work? What are you thankful for? I'm having Thanksgiving on my wife's side of the family Thanksgiving day, and then my mom's side of the family Friday. Thursday, I'll get to meet my sister in law's boyfriend so - that should be cool. I've heard he's solid. Friday, it will be the first Thanksgiving without my grandma, and my brother's (soon to be ex) wife. I'm sure there will be a little bit of sadness - and a HUGE amount of filter. (We don't want to talk smack about my brother's ex because his kids will be there any they REPEAT EVERYTHING) I don't want to be cliche, though I'm eternally grateful for Christ and his gift of salvation. ...but on a simpler note. ...I'm thankful for my guinea pig, Chu Chu. Their life expectancy is about 6 years and I've had her for about 7 years... and she's still quite healthy!

My uncle and his same-sex partner are meeting up with my family for Thanksgiving. Usually my uncle and I get along fine. Same with his partner whom he started seeing a couple years ago or so, though I don't know him that well. But this is going to be the first time I've seen either of them in person since I left a post on my personal facebook wall a few months ago discussing how I disagree with gay marriages. I carefully, very carefully, articulated how this was based on moral principles surrounding the practice of gay marriage, and absolutely not out of any "hatred" toward homosexuals as people. My friend who is gay understood that post. We are still friends. My uncle, on the other hand, removed me from facebook over it, and I just really hope that doesn't create an awkward environment when he visits.
As for what I'm thankful for, far more than I'm even able to understand. My gratitude, limited by human comprehension, can't begin to match all that God has actually done for me so far in life, especially over the past couple of years.

I elaborated more on my views of homosexuality on the ancient homosexuality thread here. It always struck me as odd that people (not saying anyone here) think gays are guys that REALLY like women in secret, but choose to bone dudes because they want to rebel against God and be persecuted.
My view, it's not a choice - therefore not a sin. Sex outside of marriage still applies though.
I think one of the biggest hammers was Paul saying homosexuality is an abomination. I'd like to point out he also said the same thing about men with long hair.
I hope there's no awkwardness between you and your uncle bro!

Take careful note that I didn't use the word "homosexuality" in my post, but rather, the term "gay marriage".

Tomorrow evening is a pre-Thanksgiving potluck with my Bible study group which should be good. Then Thursday my girlfriend, parents, sister, sister's boyfriend and his family, and I will be going for a hike and then come back to my parents' house for a low-key but somewhat traditional Thanksgiving meal. Should be nice! Then Friday my aunt and uncle are in town visiting so we'll have brunch with them before my girlfriend and I head off to my 10 year high school reunion which is being hosted at a relatively new and very popular tap-house haha. That should get interesting...

Take careful note that I didn't use the word "homosexuality" in my post, but rather, the term "gay marriage". I got you bro. I think some people associate marriage with the rights of that lifestyle. ...or that lifestyle in general? My opinion, you can draw the line at people. Any people. No pets or houseplants though. I fully respect a differing opinion though. ____________________________ I'm also thankful for the crockpot of pizza soup that my wife put together this morning.

Haven't had as much time to post, been spending extra time with the wife as she is heartbroken subsequent to our burying our dog (that was originally hers when we met) this past Saturday. We are big animal people and it's like losing a family member.
But anyway, I'll be meeting my step-dad's brother and wife for the first time at my mom's tomorrow at 1:00 then visiting the wife's parents. Will try to see my dad and step-mom too but they aren't doing dinner because she is diagnosed with the C word and they are juicing and doing raw fruit and vegetables only to strengthen her immune system so there would be too much temptation with a big dinner.
All-in-all 2015 has been a rough year. Me and the wife split up for a while earlier this year but we are stronger than ever now so there is much to be thankful for. Just being here with a roof and food and our 9 remaining pets and our families is incredibly wonderful. I try to take nothing for granted.
As everyone has said, I am most thankful for God's love through Jesus Christ and the New Covenant of grace wherewith we are grafted into God's family and kingdom. The world is so beautiful in spite of all the evil that the enemy has sown.
Praise be to God for who He is and for His love and mercy and grace. I am thankful beyond expression and can't wait to see family.

Oh and I'm incredibly thankful for all you guys for fun and fellowship and for all these bitchin' CBM releases in 2015. What a good year for the scene!

I'm thankful for this forum as well. I love this place. Around this time last year, The Blackened Hymns was barely alive, though the arrival of me, Kerrick, and Nocturnal Iridescence did help things out a bit. After that, the forum closed, a Thomas opened this place. I was concerned that we would never build up enough of a userbase to actually get things happening at first, but we've already grown to have far more activity than TBH did.
I was concerned that 2015 would be as poor of a year as previous ones of the CBM scene, but it's been pretty good. I wanted one album that really blew me away to come out, but there wasn't really one. There were plenty of great albums, but nothing that pushed beyond that level into the highest ranks among bands like CM, Evroklidon, and Grave Declaration. Orationem and Vials of Wrath came pretty close though.
Today is the Thanksgiving meal with my mother's side of the family, and tomorrow is my father's. I'm not a very big eater and I don't like many of the Thanksgiving staples (stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce), but it's still fun.

Yeah as much as I wanted Hazeroth to be AOTY I think that title belongs to Dalit (but Hazeroth is very, very good).

Haven't had as much time to post, been spending extra time with the wife as she is heartbroken subsequent to our burying our dog (that was originally hers when we met) this past Saturday. We are big animal people and it's like losing a family member. Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that. I've got a cat I've had for 12 years. Most of the time, she's my pillow - I even drool/snore on her while sleeping and she stays put and purrs all night. I will be a mess when she finally goes - I tear up just thinking about it. All-in-all 2015 has been a rough year. Me and the wife split up for a while earlier this year but we are stronger than ever now so there is much to be thankful for. Sometimes what doesn't kill us does make us stronger. I'm glad things are going well now! Yeah, 2015 was rough for me regarding jobs and whatever ailment I have. I'm grateful for this place too. Yeah, I did some behind the scenes work and opened the doors, but YOU guys made it a forum. I think its doing pretty good where its at. Even if its the same 10 dudes chatting about stuff, that would be ok with me. I'd be interested to see if a female ever registers here. LOL There were plenty of great albums, but nothing that pushed beyond that level into the highest ranks among bands like CM, Evroklidon, and Grave Declaration. Orationem and Vials of Wrath came pretty close though. That's a huge compliment CW - thank you. I was planning on settling for no one saying it was utter crap, but its nice to know its enjoyed! _________________________________ Work was extremely slow today, so they sent me home in the middle of my shift. Actually, I offered to go home so they wouldn't send some of my coworkers who are struggling with money and trying to finance a Christmas. A few more thankful things for me. I'm definitely grateful that I don't struggle with money (Thank you God) and that I have everything I need. Even my crappy low-wage job still knocks out the bills - and thanks to my wife, I have tons of food and her contribution to the bills gives me some spending money. I'm thankful that my wife and I could help one of her friends. My wife and I had our own homes when we were dating, but she moved out of hers to live with me in my house. It makes sense because its closer to her work, my house is paid off and... its bigger. 5 bedroom. Her best friend was in a really bad relationship and needed to get out. My wife's empty house was what she needed. We're giving her a break on bills for the rest of the year, but she'll eventually take over the mortgage and utilities, freeing up my wife's finances even more. (Not that she was ever hurting on money - geez, she makes more in 3 hours than I do in a whole day. LOL)

I'd be interested to see if a female ever registers here. LOL I think there's one female over at the Christian Headbangers forum (a place where I've lurked a little bit - it's very dead compared to here). I know that Kerrick is in contact with her. It would be interesting to see if she eventually joins us. That's a huge compliment CW - thank you. I was planning on settling for no one saying it was utter crap, but its nice to know its enjoyed! You're welcome, man. I've enjoyed it a lot. It has a very unique sound.

Yeah, I was happy that she picked up the Orationem debut. Cindy and a Karen picked up Orationem stuff too.
I think its as likely for a woman to like the genre as a man, but it would make sense to me that there wouldn't be much social interaction from them. I mean, it is a predominantly male genre...
...and some guys are real jerks.

Nice! Glad to hear it bro. Round 1 of Thanksgiving is done. My wife's sisters boyfriend is a solid dude... but he went and hid when we had pictures...
...which was weird...
I've started some black Friday madness already. Last time was the first time I did it. To me, it's worth some good deals.

I'm the kind of guy who tries to leave whenever pictures are taken.
I hate being in pictures.

Well yeah, my dad hates having his picture taken. He tries to leave too with or without saying he doesn't want his picture taken. I get that.
When my wife said it was picture time, this guy didn't just leave. He left and HID behind some stuff outside. WE FOUND HIM HIDING.
That's something an 8 year old would do... it was just odd as hell when a 28 year old firefighter did it.

LOL I have this brilliant image in my mind of you and your family finding him hiding behind a bush and him trying to pass it off as if it was a completely normal thing to do.

I thought it was funnier than anyone else, except my wife's sister. None of us looked at each other or knew what to say for a few minutes. HAHA!!!
