Bad news. I installed a new/different antivirus because I didn't want to pay $40 for another year of the one I was using. ...now my PC is stuck in this automatic repair loop. It won't start. If I can't find a solution in the backup menus I have access to, I'll have to take it somewhere to get fixed. (I've been trying different solutions for 2 hours now and nothing is working.)
If they can't recover my PC, files and programs, I'll be forced to put Orationem CDs out of print until further notice. I have the raw music master files, but I won't be able to print labels so... no more CDS cause I can't make them.
...not to mention, my recording software(s) would be gone (I used my last product key on this PC that just crashed)
Prayer please?

have you tried getting into the boot options while it is booting and changing it to safe mode? Also as a last ditch effort you can use a Live CD or USB and boot from that so you can get into a usable OS and offload your data. What antivirus did you install that caused it to boot loop? And how many times has it booted? Is it just rebooting for the cleaning process or is it actually messed up? Because I know some tools like Combofix will reboot your pc multiple times during the repair process.

Oh yeah, I forgot you were an IT guy. Haha! It's a Windows 8.1 automatic repair loop on a Dell BIOS. Tried safe mode - it doesn't work.
Here's what I've tried that doesn't work: Restart Advanced options - Continue (Restart) Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Refresh your PC Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Dell Backup and Recovery (I don't have an external hard drive) Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Startup Repair Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - System Restore Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - System Image Recovery
I did find a clue when I used Advanced options - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Command Prompt. When I disabled automatic repair, it said a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.
File:\Windows\System32\drivers\ACPI.sys Error code: 0xc000000f
Chkdsk said errors detected in the uppercase file. /f to fix doesn't work because cannot lock current drive. Volume is write protected.

I had a local friend (also IT for a large company) and I think it's above his pay grade. I took it into BLH Computers in town. (Taylorville) He does a free diagnostic. I hope he's not too ridiculous in cost, regardless of what needs done to fix my PC. He had a hunch it was a hard drive failure... but the diag will tell for sure.

I got a call back from BLH Computers. The good news is, the hard drive is still good. The issue was Windows become corrupt with the anti-virus uninstall. They'll be able to back up my data, put on Windows again and restore my data to my PC. The bad news is they're charging me $100. I agreed to it. Yeah, that's 1/3rd the cost of the PC, but the time and energy involved with my projects, that price is definitely worth it to not lose that stuff. After I get my PC back, I'm going to send Avast the bill...
I've got a few Orationem CD copies. If I run out of stock between now and the 3 days it will take to complete the repair, I'll temporarily make the album unavailable until I'm up and going again.
Thank God there's a solution!

Good to hear they can salvage the data!
$100 though, that sucks.

Yeah. It could have been worse... and I'm glad it's not.

I got my PC back. All the files are there so - Orationem CDs are still a go. I had to reinstall everything. Art software and recording software are back up...
I lost Microsoft Office 2010 - I got that install from the IT guy that left work so I didn't have the keys/discs. Same with my mastering software - they don't make that version anymore and I'd have to buy a new version or get something else. Not that big of a deal I guess...
I'm hoping to have Orationem shirts up on the site sometime this week - but between the two C's (Christmas and Cancer), I'm pretty occupied.

Cancer? I must have missed that. When did you get diagnosed? And what Anti-Virus had you installed on that pc that messed it up?
