More than just what do you do to make money, but is it something you enjoy? Is it something you'll end up doing until you retire? Do you find yourself living paycheck to paycheck or are you comfortable?
If no one takes the bait, I'll start...

I'm a mechanical engineer at a small engineering/manufacturing firm. We do contract work for a broad variety of other companies, but mostly electrical cabinets, power distribution cabinets, and the like. One of our biggest customers is a bicycle/motorcycle shocks company who we make large tools that press parts together, etc. I do like mechanical engineering. This is my first job out of college and I've been here for going on five years now. It's been a good job. It pays the bills, though due to the location, it pays much less than other companies do. However, if I didn't work here, I'd have to commute ~45 minutes each way OR live somewhere I don't want to. Right now I live and work in beautiful Santa Cruz which is pretty awesome.

Sweet!!! How many years did you go to school to be an engineer? Small company or not, I bet the salary is nice... and that will definitely be your foot in the door if you decide to upgrade to another company.
I went to college 4 years and don't use my degree at all for my job. HAHA!!! Well, I take that back - the skills I learned were essential to my job, but the piece of paper saying what I learned means nothing.
I'm currently a supervisor at a business that's done marketing for over 30 years. Its a place that offers business-to-business and business-to-consumer solutions to enhance client services and profitability through a contact center, fulfillment center and technology department. I work in the contact center.
For those of you scratching you head, I work at a call center. ...but I assure you, its much more than just "customer service".
I'm responsible for 3 different programs/clients. One is probably a name you've never heard of. One, if you go to any grocery store in the US, look on the back of the product and call the 1-800 number on the back, you're talking to members of my team. The other you've heard of, seen commercials for, and if you called the company directly (instead of getting one at a department store nationwide), you're talking to members of my team.
This company provides services for MANY different companies. Even though I'm only responsible for my 3, I'm trained on many other programs in the building.
I do field some calls. I monitor calls for quality assurance. I train programs to agents so they can take calls. I coach agents and issue corrective actions. (final writtens and terminations, I have to work with HR to issue) I use the intranet and Wiki servers our technology department designed to bring the agents the tools and information they need to excel at their job. ____________________
I do love my job. There's some days where I feel like butter scraped over too much bread - doing the work order 10 people like everyone else in the building. Its a career I plan on retiring from.
I don't worry about money - I don't live paycheck to paycheck. I own a 5 bedroom house. I've got a decent retirement going. I'm still trying to be smart with my money - currently saving to put new windows in my house. That should increase the efficiency of the heating and cooling in my house.
....and I thank God every day that things are going as well as they are at this time in my life. It allows me to focus on other things - like family and hobbies.

Thank God, no! I might show them a song or two at the end of the year, but I shudder to think of what might happen if any of my students showed their parents Eulogium

The sad thing is that if you were in a Christian soft rock band and the kids showed their parents, the parents would think it was fine.

I work in management with a grocery store that I have been with for 16 years. I used to love my job, but a lot of upper level changes has left a bitter taste in my mouth as to the direction we are taking. Right now I am trying to ride out the storm though. But don't misunderstand me, I am grateful to God for my job, and the blessings he has given me. We have close to 1000 stores right now. I make schedules, manage around 35 people, mainly school kids trying to make a little pocket cash. I drive over an hour to get to my store, which can get old BUT does give me plenty of time to listen to some music!

I'll add mine, I work for a plumbing contractor doing administrative stuff like answering phones, billing, payments, job scheduling etc. basically a glorified secretary lol been here since 1990 so man can't even say how many years. wow. anyhow, job is cushy, can surf facebook/google and sometimes even play my addiction World of Warcraft ;p when it's dead here. But with the owner 73 and looking towards retirement I need to begin thinking of a change. I'm really trying to look into some kind of counselor type thing, I'm pretty introverted so I like just listening to people talk and vent/complain. So some type of job that I can do that and help people is kinda where I wanna go.

Arise necro-threadI went to school to become a forwarding agent but for the last 4 years I´ve been working in a very well known German "drugstore warehouse" as a Foreman and Í´m also the assistant of the Deputy Area Manager(I hope that´s the right translation). I get a very good pay, sadly I made a huge mistake buying a new car..but if all goes right I´ll get rid of it in a year or two, so that I´ll be able to put some money on the site. Because right now I´m more or less living from pay-to-pay. But I´m thankfull, because the job isn´t that hard and the folks there are nice.

Nice bro! I'm currently a supervisor at a business that's done marketing for over 30 years. Well this has changed for me. 2016 while I was going through cancer treatments, I actually missed working for a total of 6 months. (90 days off twice) I still work at the same place, but different title and responsibilities. I like being an "agent" - or a regular "customer service representative" better than being a sup/manager. I don't take my work home with me so.... when I'm off the clock, I'm done. Also, paid by the hour now where as management is salary. (the sucky thing with salary is, you're paid the same working 80 hours as 40 hours) Even though salary there is fairly generous, I do feel "better" that I'm getting paid based on how much I work. I'm not full time. I've tried working more hours and fell on my face, but my current schedule works really well. I haven't missed a day off work for several months now - and even though its not the same money I was making as a manager, I'm still within my means and not living paycheck to paycheck at least.

I work as the shipper for a small-ish company that makes light measurement equipment of various kinds. Chances are, our equipment calibrated the camera on your phone. Our stuff is used on satellites, missle guidance systems, VR systems, night-vision systems, Lidar systems, laser systems, medical & surgical equipment, and even when you go to get paint mixed at Home Depot; there's a tiny integrating sphere in their machine that uses light to match the colors correctly. It's a really cool company, and the hourly pay is good. Benefits are good, and we get fairly regular bonuses for sales and meeting other goals. I ship stuff all over the world, from tiny parts in a small box to 3 meter spheres in crates you could park your car in. It can get kind of crazy at times, but it's a solid job and it works for my life right now. And I can listen to music all day!!! 😃

I don't have a living at the moment. I specialize in visual artwork, music, and general "Unblack Archives"-type stuff (updating, messaging, a bit of promotion on Facebook, etc) for which I've received a few donations ... but for the most part, the only work I've been doing is Unblack Archives. My visual artwork has basically come to a halt, and I'm... working, on my music, with a LOT of help from God.
I guess I never realized, until I actually started going to therapy in early 2017, just how much my anxiety and depression were eating at me. Most of my anger; most of my lethargy; most of my procrastination; most of my pessimism; most of my anti-social tendencies; it boils down to depression, made worse by my anxiety. The past two years have basically been one big self-improvement project. As I work on this stuff and improve myself, I'm also getting better at playing music, so I really want to get back into that shortly.
I genuinely think I have the potential to make a living off of music. (Whether God wants me to follow this path, or will eventually guide me elsewhere, remains to be seen!) I write music in tons of styles, not just black metal (this has always been the case, it's not a "new" thing), it's just a matter of getting those more "accessible" songs from my head, to my recording stuff.
But I also don't have unrealistic expectations for myself. I know I'm not just going to "get over it" and conquer the whole entire world overnight. Baby steps.
By the way, I know this post is fairly cryptic. I'm not actually doing it intentionally this time -- I just don't know how else to explain what I've been dealing with.

I'm a civil servant, working in a department that is collecting fees from various debtors. I am not going out to collect money myself though, just sending out orders to court, freezing bank accounts and seizing peoples salary etc. and then answering phone calls and have funny discussions about all matter of things, haha. Even though my job has lots of potential for conflicts it is okay there. I like my collegue and I try to take my daily dosage of insanity with humor. The job is also decent paid and I don't have to be afraid of being fired, what I value very much because earlier in my life I used to work at all kind of hire and fire jobs.

I'm a civil servant, working in a department that is collecting fees from various debtors. Back a loooooooong time ago, I dated a girl that did this kind of work. She had some interesting stories of conversations with people, just like I did doing customer service for multiple national brands. I genuinely think I have the potential to make a living off of music. (Whether God wants me to follow this path, or will eventually guide me elsewhere, remains to be seen!) Of course you have the potential to make a career off music! I'll try not to be the dream-smasher, but I'm sure you know, its unlikely to be able to pay your bills exclusively off of "internet music"... unless you muster something that turns viral. My brother, for a short period of time, actually "made a living" with music. He was touring-session-bass with (I think it was) Hoobastank (because I remember the band he was with did the music for a Mountain Dew commercial) and "shows" are definitely where its at regarding "music money". Get a couple Gs for show, book a bunch of shows in a tour, it adds up. I think his ultimate burnout from that was allllllll the traveling. Like the routine was: exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus, unpack, play a show, pack, exist on a bus... There wasn't much time to "be at home" and enjoy the loot. -_-

There wasn't much time to "be at home" and enjoy the loot. -_- I am keeping that in mind, definitely. A fair few people have compared my music to stuff in movie / video game soundtracks. That's a possible route, too. Not saying I am going that route, just that it's there. And I have heard that the majority of profit from full-time musicians (the ones that don't do soundtracks) come from touring, that's something I'm keeping in mind, too. Touring really isn't something I feel like doing, so I'm hoping there will be some way around that. Then again, I also didn't feel like removing 1000+ videos and 3 years of hard work from ItsNickJx back in 2013, yet only a year later, I did just that, save an Armageddon Holocaust video. So who knows? Maybe touring will seem better / be more viable later on. Then again, for all I know, all of this may be irrelevant tomorrow and I will be called to do something else entirely. Who knows at this point?
