I decided that I needed to contribute something more to the scene, so I decided to create a YouTube channel where I'll upload the most obscure stuff that I own that isn't already on YouTube. www.youtube.com/channel/UC9gvREXeilF9tokKlBou7awCreative name, right? I didn't really feel like using CrimsonWarrior. I put up the full Erasmus EP, as none of it was on YouTube before. I plan on getting the Aspiration and Geistkrieg demos up soon.

"Featured Channels" It's really good timing, actually. I only have a few more videos to upload on ItsNickJx, then I'm moving on from it. I truly feel God has been calling me to do other things. It's not the only channel uploading extreme Christian stuff, you have Tito30207 for example, but it's good to know someone can pick up where ItsNickJx will be leaving off.

I don't think I'll manage to upload as much as you have been though. I don't have that kind of skill in exploring the underground. I have a few things that I plan on uploading, but after that, it'll be really infrequent.
Here's the list of what I have planned so far:
Aspiration - Incendiarism Black Landscapes - Shred Them For They Might Escape (still not totally sure if I'm okay with uploading this; if I do, I'll put a big disclaimer in the description) Bleakwail - Songs of Sorrow Excision - Brutal Days Geistkrieg - Demo 2006 Imperial Dusk - Northern Hordes Neizbezhnost - Would It Be Reasonable Offerblod - Offerblod Stronghold - Prayers from a Yearning Heart Willows - Walk Home Zurisadai - Symphony of the Souls
I'm fairly sure that all of the albums listed above have either none or very few songs from them on YouTube already.

Cool! I'd love to hear that Aspiration...
What about Black Landscapes concerns you? I'm not familiar with them.
What are the laws/rules about uploading bands' music? Do you have to contact them first to get their permission? I don't have any experience in stuff like this.

I'll work on Aspiration next. Here's a thread with my concerns on Black Landscapes: theblackestlight.freeforums.net/thread/388/black-landscapes-jewish-metalI'm not sure what the exact rules are. I'm airing on the side of caution. I'm not going to upload anything that is super recent and easy to buy (such as the Day of Ascension EP released by Revived By Light). I plan on focusing mainly on older, rare stuff that you can't really find anywhere anyway, such as Aspiration, Erasmus, Bleakwail, Geistkrieg, Zurisadai, etc. I'm also going to upload stuff that is legally free to download to begin with (Neizbezhnost, Willows, etc.). Imperial Dusk might be a bit of a stretch considering that it only came out two years ago though. I plan on putting it in video descriptions and in the channel description that if the label owner/band member wants me to remove the video, they should let me know, and I'll get rid of it as soon as I can. My only concern about putting that in there is that it leaves me feeling tied to the channel - for example, if I decide to leave the channel like NI plans on doing soon, I don't want to have to still check back every once in a while to see if I got a message from an angry band member. So I guess you just have to be real careful. Kerrick, I know that you've been in contact with the Aspiration guys a little bit. Will you ask them if they're okay with me putting Incendiarism up on YouTube? For all I know, they could be planning on re-releasing it or something and don't want me to post it. NI, will you share your experiences with YouTube? Have you ever gotten requests to remove videos?

Oodles of videos reference the Fair Use Act in terms of using content. (which to my knowledge, allows use of copyright material "for informational and educational purposes")
As far as official "rules" of uploading content, no you don't have to ask anyone's permission to upload anything. I think as a moral Christian, its certainly nice to ask someone if you can upload their material...
...that being said, YouTube takes any complaints that smell remotely "copyright-ish" VERY seriously. If you upload a video and that ticks the artist off and they file a complaint, you can at least expect YouTube to remove the video and put you on upload restrictions.
Bottom line, I would still upload it after attempting to contact the artist. Part of me wishes I had something rare enough to make the list, but then again, something THAT rare implies at least some neglect... all the more reason to share it for informational purposes.
(if I ever get my hands on that Essence of Light stuff I made, I might shoot it your way though)
Regarding Black Landscapes, I can't find any lyrics either - but I think a quote from the review on this site sums what the album is about.
What's your goal with these videos chief? If its a collection of RARE "Christian" black metal, well, this one doesn't really apply. It would be a nice piece of pork among your beef. If its a collection of RARE "safe for Christians" black metal, well then it would fit in nicely in your collection of steaks.

It's meant to be rare Christian black metal, but I'd be willing to accept Black Landscapes as an exception. That quote is from the blog of Armando Lopez, known around here by his project's name: Eulogium. I actually contacted him through PM about the band, asking him about the backwards voices and if he knew anything about it. This was his reply: Let's take a closer look at MA: www.metal-archives.com/artists/EVOX/122197This is his artist page. He was involved with a band called Lehavoth, which seems to have had some pretty gross lyrics. Additionally, take a look at the Lineup tab on the demo itself: www.metal-archives.com/albums/Black_Landscapes/Shred_Them_for_They_Might_Escape.../46991There were several guest artists. Some were also in Lehavoth. One is in a band called Arallu, and the picture for the band features all of the band members displaying their middle fingers. It's all very concerning to me. I don't really feel convicted when listening to it, but I don't want to say that it's friendly towards God, because there's too much evidence that leans in the other direction.

I wouldn't share it. I only had to make one tough decision on ItsNickJx and that was for Ancient Warrior. Never found 100% proof they were Christians, but they played at a Christian metal festival, worked with Pastor Vampire (Emperador) for their demo, etc so it was safe to assume.
Overall for YouTube and for tumblr, I have really, really strict criteria for what I post. I don't intend for those pages to be so much a mix of black metal and Christianity - more like direct evangelism/worship (having God as the sole focus) just using metal as a platform. Like stained glass artists or hymn writers. I've found that to be a pretty good perspective to have. Just as an extreme example, I once found a "Christian NSBM" artist on tumblr. I won't share that. (Note: it was not Campo Nero SS. That project doesn't claim to be Christian.) Also bands that go too far into the "mystic" stuff (pretty common among Catholic artists, but of course a lot of them don't get into it either) there's more, but you get the idea.

I wouldn't share it either bro. There's plenty of other stuff to share. Also, WOW at the Christian NSBM stuff.

Wow thanks for the channel brother! I'll give it a listen right away. I was looking for Imperial Dusk material sooo badly in the last weeks. Couldn't find any, except for one song off their Northern Hordes album. Blessings!

Congrats on taking the YouTube plunge. I'll have to check out some of your stuff as I have been very interested in a couple of releases that you mention here.

Got my first subscriber. Thank you to whoever you are! It's probably one of the members or lurkers here.
I'll try to get two videos up tomorrow. Hopefully Aspiration will be one of them, but I'm kind of concerned about posting it, as the band is still active...

I completely missed this! Sorry! Ever since I started uploading only Christian music, I *personally* haven't gotten any copyright strikes, nope. On the contrary, Herr Darkpriest (Verdelger) and the one guy from Wickeds End both thanked me for uploading their songs (I think some other people did, too, but I can't remember right now) and Hazeroth subscribed to my channel after I uploaded their demo. I had one guy from a different project request to have one video removed, but that's because I inadvertently uploaded something that wasn't officially released, that he intended to use for a split album in the future. (It was in a public folder, so I assumed it was okay. It got resolved very peacefully.)
Some of the albums are listed on CDBaby and sites like that, so because of copyrights you might have ads play on those videos, but those don't count as actual strikes against your account.

CW thanks so much for doing this. I almost always want to listen to something before I buy it. Channels like this on YouTube are really helpful for me. I have discovered so much I wouldn't have found otherwise this way.
I can relate to what you say about wanting to contribute.

Aspiration is now up: Hope you like it Kerrick! I always provide timestamps in the description so that people can navigate the video better, but sometimes they glitch out and send you to the wrong place.

Yeah, I put that in the description of the video once I found out. I don't think that was true when I first uploaded it. I doubt Jeff really minds that I put it on YouTube, since I not only linked to the Bandcamp, but he's offering it at name your price anyway, so people can just download it for free if they want.

That sounds neat, but I don't know how good I would be at that. You guys also already have a CBM show, so I don't know how useful I would be either.

No offense to anyone, but I would think there would be a significant caliber of quality if you did a show vs. Larry's show. ...you being the preferred show for me of course, CW. Even though I've only listened to Larry's show 2-3 times, I think you would pick higher end bands.... not the ones where they don't even keep basic timing. Wait who does the black metal one? ↑ Here's the proof that we need another Christian black metal show.

I have to at least listen to Larry's show at some point though to get a feel for how it works. I've never actually tuned into it before. Not much of a radio guy (even if it is my style of music), so I don't listen to Reanimated a whole lot.
