From farm to pharmaceutical, diesel truck to dinner plate, pipeline to plastic product, it is impossible to think of an area of our modern-day lives that is not affected by the oil industry. The story of oil is the story of the modern world. And this is the story of those who helped shape that world, and how the oil-igarchy they created is on the verge of monopolizing life itself.

I'll have to check this out later.
I think I've seen Eisenhower's last speech as president more than a few times. You'd think after a successful win of the Korean War, that he would have at least mentioned in... but instead, he cryptically warned about hidden government and warned against "military industrial complex".
The movie Sirius is primarily about the "humanoid" they found in the Atacama desert, but they touch on what you're talking about. ...mostly in the context of we HAVE alternate forms of fuel/propulsion, but
Its no secret that the government doesn't actually own the money we all use. A handful of banks do. The volume of that money, depends on oil. Who uses the most oil? The military industrial complex.
It might be covered in your video but there was a guy, Stanley Meyer that successfully made a car that runs on water. I've seen footage of him driving it. The military wanted to make it exclusive to them, but he wanted to patent it so that everyone could use it. Shortly after, he not only was wrongfully swindled, sued and his work destroyed, but his last words before I collapsed dead in the street was screaming "My God! They've poisoned me!"
My speculation, we'd be in economic ruin if everyone knew something cheaper, more efficient than oil. ...but you have to tear down the old building to put up a new one. We'll never be a regular in space as long as the oil-banks-money-military gang hold all the cards.
