I'm not spring chicken to extreme metal. ...there's pro's and cons to that.
One con is that I've heard a lot. I've also played a lot and have my own game.
...and something has to be extraordinary in my book to move me.
Fleshgod Apocalypse - King
I picked up this album when it came out - and it moved me like no other release has.
The aggressive parts hit me harder than slamming a double espresso.
The emotional parts have actually brought me to tears.
Literally, this album has taken my breath away in parts. Like, I end up gasping for air because I'm so captivated, I forget to BREATHE.
Not black metal, but definitely scratches my blackened itch.
I have no interest in power/classic metal vocals, but they're done so right on this release.
Its better orchestrated than anything Dimmu Borgir could ever dream of doing.
Its more brutal than Brain Drill and more emotional than Coldworld.
I'm also seeing them LIVE in a few days. (Monday Night)
...and I'll try not to literally shit myself (not because of the cancer this time, but because this is AMAZING)
I've NEVER heard anything this spectacular. The bar has already been set VERY high for album of the year.
I loved their two prior albums The Agony and Labyrinth, and this one is even better.
There isn't much on YouTube, and while this link isn't the quality of the actual studio recording, it (and the other tracks) still has 100% of the potency. I've had the album 6 days now, and I haven't even gotten through all the tracks because I hear one and have to listen to it again and again and again and again and again...
and 6 days of ONLY listening to this, I'm still only listening to 4 tracks.
Get comfortable, choose the "distortion" version, (not the orchestrated one), and get ready to be blown away.

Have you ever heard anything so unbelievably awesome?!??
