Oh hey! Now I know where to post now! It was brutal! I'm definitely a full on Broken Flesh fan now. I own two shirts now. They were so cool to see and learned that their new bassist was actually in Obliteration back in the 90s so he's actually an old bassist. I love their form right now. Can't wait until they finish the new album. I was able to talk to Kevin at the show and he shared how awesome Luxor Records has been treating them and where they see themselves in the next year or so. It was great finally meeting him.

Great thread to read through! Been to hundreds of shows ~ first one was Van Halen in '81 and remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. Some standouts have been Miles Davis, Santana, Michael Brecker, Metallica in 85 at a small club in Houston, Opeth, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Suffocation... then I had kids. Haven't been to a show in years, but am thinking about catching Insomnium in a few months.

jazzhead did you get a chance to see Insomnium? avjr dude, I saw War of Ages a month ago, actually a decent amount due to how much you like them. Thomas Eversole , I know you appreciate when people promptly respond to messages ... well, I couldn't help but think of you occasionally throughout the month I was planning on making this simple post and simultaneously not making this post -- I don't think you would appreciate that latency (if for some reason you knew I went to the show and did not follow up here in a reasonable amount of time). So yeah, I saw War of Ages. An opener I really enjoyed was a metalcore band called Convictions. With genuine love they played their last song for a kid in the crowd whose friend recently died by suicide and the dudes at the show showed a moving empathy/solidarity in being with him as the song was performed. Back to WoA: I've only been to a handful of shows in which it'd be appropriate to mosh and I never have (though I do move a lot just to the rhythm and whatnot) ... but I really couldn't help myself the last song and I danced ha. "All consuming fire -- burn!" ... and I'm really wanting to be a man of God, so I decided to mosh out that emotion. Anyways. Yeah. avjr here's the setlist if you want to compare to the infinity times you saw them. Also without going into it, I'll claim that Battle On was played partially for me, which is pretty cool

When I saw them last week, their set list were Lionheart, Chaos Theory, Immortal, Fullness, From Ashes, Renegade, Hollow Point, Creator, Cut Throat, Through the Flames, Collapse, and All Consuming Fire. I will put videos here, so feel free to watch them. 😁

jazzhead did you get a chance to see Insomnium? /quote] Not yet. They're playing The Palladium in Worcester, MA in June. Evidently they're playing the Winter's Gate album, which I really love. If anyone's been to The Palladium, they're playing upstairs, which is a pretty small room, maybe 2-300? Saw Mastodon there in '03 and it was killer. Problem is, it's a 3 hour drive.... and I'm an old guy with a job and a family... 🤔🤘🏼

Update: it was only me, this other dude, and the members of Deborah at the show the other night. Definitely unexpected. Unfortunately (but totally understandably!) they did not play. Oh well. I jammed to their CD on the way home never forget when i drove 2 hours to see a fantastic female-fronted Mexican CBM band but the show (with a handful plus of openers on the poster too lol) was a ghost town and consequently didnt happen

I am back to attending local and driving to Dagon gigs for about 18 months now. Multiple Dagon gigs, many assorted openers, drove 5 hours to AHTDU’s release gig for Via Artis.....have hit probably 20 “local shows”, last month for some reason David Ellefson (bass, Megadeth) played a gig on his latest solo tour at one of my local home base watering holes for about 100 people on a Wednesday night and I was literally 3ft from him the entire gig. KILLER experience, that one was.....

I've been to two shows since I stopped posting in this forum a while ago.
The first is an interesting story. For my birthday in March 2020, my wife and I had tickets to see Devin Townsend, Haken, and The Contortionist in Nashville, TN. As we were driving down there, multiple artists were posting on social media that they were canceling shows and events because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and sure enough, Devin cancels the rest of the tour as we were on the way. We decided to continue our stay in Nashville and find something else to do. I look for local shows that are still happening, and I find that Geoff Tate was playing a show with his band and covering the Queensryche albums Rage for Order and Empire! We had a blast in that show. Got to talk with some Gen X'ers who had a hard time believing I was the same age as the Empire album (30 years!).
The second show we went to was back in September, where we got to see Unleash the Archers in Kansas City! They were touring with Aether Realm and Seven Kingdoms, both really awesome bands! Got to have conversations with other people in line about metal music and about Magic: the Gathering, as I was wearing a Magic shirt with a metal logo.
Both shows were awesome!
