I thought maybe it is cool to make a thread in which you can post the bands you have seen (recently) live. From black metal to country. Just state them...
Went to 'Rock for Eternity 2016' yesterday and saw these:
Nefast (local black metal band) Wolfer (local melodic hardcore band, recommended for those who like that genre! Has some christian members in it) A Sickness Unto Death Malchus Metatrone (they were definitely the best of the evening. Got the whole venue going.) InnerWish (Liked them a lot less than I wished I would.)

I'm a hermit nowadays I haven't seen any shows since 2009 lol. 2009 was a beast of a show though (Opeth with spec. guest Enslaved, Bijou Theater Knoxville, TN).

How did you like A Sickness Unto Death? I've written back and forth with their singer a fair bit. He's a real cool guy. I enjoy both of their albums quite a bit.
EDIT: wasn't Truiwint supposed to be on that bill too? Did they not play? I love their album and am really looking forward to more!

Triuwint hasn't been on that bill. But would be great to see them one day... Realised that evening that Slechtvalk and Opus Irae played a gig in the south of the country the same evening... Not sure which I would have chosen when I had not forgotten about it... A Sickness Unto Death were musically pretty good and tight. Maybe the one thing was that the vocalists 'clean' voice is not the best in the world. But it worked well. So not really a problem. His harsh vocals were very good though. And they had a decent atmosphere all together.

I've only been to mainstream rock concerts. Heaviest band I've ever seen live is Red lol. They were very good though.

Ah man I love Red! Which tour did you see? Post grunge is a guilty pleasure that I indulge occasionally.

They were at Winter Jam. It's a good tour...if you like kinda boring worship music. I saw Skillet there too though, and they were good.

Ah, yeah I'm familiar with Winter Jam. Never been but I've known people who have.
Let's see, what other shows have I seen?
I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers on the Californication tour. Foo Fighters opened and kind of stole the show but both acts were very good live.
I also saw Godsmack on the Faceless tour with Breaking Benjamin (before they were uber popular) and Cold. The sound quality wasn't great until Godsmack set their equipment up lol then it was a really good show, pyrotechnics and all.

That's interesting, I like Tim's clean vocals much more than his harsh ones. Though I saw a video of the making of their first album and I think they do a fair bit of modifying them in the studio. He also was in a black metal project that's pretty cool called Hasszorn. They released one album. The production I don't care for much (vocals way to forward in the mix, guitars way too far back) though he was saying maybe for a 10 year anniversary of it they'd do a rerelease with different production. You can listen to the whole album on youtube. It's a pretty good album and I definitely recommend!

As far as live shows, I've gone to a few. I've seen Gwar multiple times and they might just be my favorite live show. They are absolutely ridiculous. And coming out of the pit drenched in [fake] blood and slime is quite the experience! Becoming The Archetype is one of my other favorites to see live. They put on a really great show and are just so much fun. Sonata Arctica is awesome too. I'm really grateful I got to see Virgin Black live before they disappeared off the face of the earth. I've seen Wolves In The Throne Room and Alcest a few times each too. The guys in Alcest are super friendly and nice fellows. I have most of my CDs of them signed. Enslaved is really good live too. Ooh Wovenhand is awesome live; seen them a few times too. I love concerts!

Unfortunately, the last live show I attended was in 2009. I saw Zao. They were awesome.

I went to a couple of shows that had a handful of metal bands back around 2008-2009 as well. Let's see if I can remember all the bands I saw...
Veil of Maya, The Faceless, Between the Buried and Me, Suffocation, In Flames(!), Whitechapel... I think that's it.

I have been to very few shows in my life so far, though I hope to change that. Other than local bands in Florida that I don't remember, the biggest concert I went to was when Queensryche was doing an Operation:Mindcrime tour in support of Operation:Mindcrime 2 (which was kind of a turd of an album). That was a good show though.
I sat through an entire Melvins show on Youtube once. Doesn't count, but I thought it was pretty awesome.

I have attended hundreds of live gigs over the years. Both on local club level and big stadium shows. The last bigger shows was Soulfly and Satyricon. Great shows. And Im about to see Iron Maiden in a few weeks.

I saw David Bazan last night. He's ... I don't know, but zero percent metal. It was great.
I'm planning on seeing Deborah next week!

Update: it was only me, this other dude, and the members of Deborah at the show the other night. Definitely unexpected. Unfortunately (but totally understandably!) they did not play. Oh well. I jammed to their CD on the way home

Yeah, it was unfortunate. It was in Queens, NY. They're playing there again this weekend, but I don't think I'm feeling the drive again. No worries -- that's life.

I hope to see Opus Irae, Morgarten and Welicoruss next Saturday.
I am quite curious how that will turn out.

Wow. I have seen so many bands live, at various levels of fame, that I really don't know if I can even remember them all.
A few high points, no order
Exodus/Megadeth Gojira/Lamb of God/Metallica Dream Theater/Iron Maiden Decapitated/Hypocrisy/Suffocation/Fear Factory Obscura/Neuraxis/The Faceless/Cannibal Corpse Huntress/Job for a Cowboy/Amon Amarth/Children of Bodom Aletheian/Becoming the Archetype/Crimson Moonlight Still Breathing/The Agony Scene/Extol Skeletonwitch Cephalic Carnage decrepit Birth Cattle Decapitation Six Feet Under Witch Mountain Wretched Drottnar A Hill to Die Upon As I Lay Dying Whitechapel Beast in the Field Still Remains The Burial
Literally over a hundred gigs for Dagon/Bestiary(pre-Dagon band with most of the same members), and the various acts they've played with.....
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I was a VERY busy guy from 2003 thru 2013.
I've been to exactly 4 gigs since then. Life responsibilities suck sometimes.

Yesterday I saw these live: Opus Irae Very good show. Their sound was very tight and clear. Very symphonic black metal with atmospheric and classical ambience here and there.
Morgarten Also very good! Did a lot of thought into the decor and story. Backdrop with the album artwork, standards, medieaval clothing, weaponry and instruments. Musically tight. Though the drummer started a couple of times with the wrong sample.
Welicoruss Their music was quite good but both the drums and keys were sampled so that decreased a lot of the live experience. With an unequiped drum kit on the background...

I bet Drottnar live was amazing... I saw Drottnar live back in 2005. It was a amazing thight live performance, those rythms is just crazy! As far as I can remember they played mostly songs from then the upcoming Welterwerk record. Like the whole uniform / megaphone thing they have going on stage.

Wait, is Shadowrise a Christian band? I love their sound but I'm a little apprehensive to buy their music since I don't know the lyrics.
Edit: I suppose a better question is this: is that a Christian festival? If not, that's an unusually high number of Christian bands performing.
