I decided to give this its own thread to continue the discussion started on the purchases thread. Beyond the bands listed in that post from Metal Archives, I only know bands that are more post-hardcore/post-metal oriented: - Trenches - Maranatha, whose albums are free (name your price) on their Bandcamp.
- The Blue Letter
I admit these are different, especially since Dyp mentioned stuff more like Sabbath. (In which case, perhaps some traditional doom like Pÿlon or Evangelist might be better?) I feel like Kerrick could help with this.

Dustt. Already mentioned in the other thread, but worth mentioning here too. Overall I'd like to make some Christian stoner/doom myself, but I already have too many ideas to juggle at the moment.

I think this band has at least some Christian members: CrawlHmm, looks like some of the members are in this band that the Metal Archives lists their lyrical theme as "Christianity." Sons Of God

The best Sabbath-inspired stoner/doom band with Christianity-inspired lyrics that I've found is Starchild. Had to mention that here because I love their stuff (s/t is the best, the Starchild/Rebreather EP is fantastic as well, and Born Into Eternity is not quite as edgy but still good).

Escape from Hell (typically harsh noise) released a stoner/doom EP recently. Personally I don't think these vocals go very well with stoner/doom, I think they worked a lot better on Baptist Church's EP, but eh. Bandcamp

I was just going to ask you all about any recent activity from Michael -- cool coincidence.

Personally I don't think these vocals go very well with stoner/doom Lots of bands do vocals like that though, in stoner/doom, don't they? I'm listening to Dopethrone right now, for instance. Guess, where doom is concerned, it's more of the sludge influence, a la Khanate, Iron Monkey, and bongzilla, etc. I think they worked a lot better on Baptist Church's EP, but eh Don't tell anyone I told you, but... there might be another Baptist Chvrch album in the works. Ideas are churning.

Maybe I just didn't look as far into the genre as I thought. Including secular music, the only stoner/doom song I ever heard with predominantly harsh vocals was "White Light Yellow" by Mass (which, for the record, isn't a good indication of the album at all - I found a download and each song seems pretty different?) I'd definitely like to hear more Baptist Church, though!

Maybe I just didn't look as far into the genre as I thought. There's quite a bit of diversity in the genre. Some bands are more Black Sabbath inspired emulators, some take that into more extreme territory mixing it with blackened sludge metal. There are like subtle gradations between both concepts. Bands like Primitive Man and Thou, for example, sound nothing like Salem's Pot, or Om. I'd definitely like to hear more Baptist Church, though! I have an idea that I've been wanting to do for years, that I never got around to doing properly. I think it would fit well under the Baptist Chvrch project, especially considering the "Untitled" EP. It would take some work though, that I'm not sure I'm ready to put in yet.
