Today marks a milestone for the Orationem YouTube channel. All the lyric videos are complete and 100% of Orationem music has been uploaded to the channel. I reviewed a few of my uploaded videos, and I'm a bit annoyed that some of the fade transfer effects didn't survive production, but in my opinion - its good enough. The music is there, the footage is there and so are the lyrics. ...just some lyrics don't "fade" away so much as they SOMETIMES appear or disappear. ___________________________
Regarding Orationem itself, I've been mauling over a few things in my head. For one, I've had some thoughts with not even doing a 4th album, just putting some new stuff together for the black metal prayers. I've had some thoughts of following through with the 4th album, but not pursuing the "not live" elements. I haven't entirely decided...
This goes against more recent reviews and what CW reviewed, but I think the direction the "Pure Peace..." album took, is not the direction I want to go with Orationem. What's strange is that 1 week working on the self titled, 2 weeks working on Pure Peace.... the pinnicle/apex of Orationem feels to me to be at the Fulfiller album, which took 3 days. The riffs/songs are more memorable to me than the other albums for some reason.
New music, like the prayers, I'd like to focus more on the original/older 2-guitar style. ..."more" not "entirely". I think the cello either needs to make more or less of an appearance, and I think the music needs to be more RAW and dirty sounding...

Right on Thomas. My vote is for a new black metal album. And if I may, I have a couple suggestions: For the cello, I definitely like it and think it enhances the overall feel, though on the last album probably erred on the overbearing side. I wouldn't recommend having it make MORE of an appearance but instead make it a bit more subtle. And this is a completely personal preference, but I generally rather the vocalists in black metal to really belt/shriek it out. Much of the vocals in Orationem are more on the snarled-side of things which is a very tried-and-true style too, but I would love to hear you screaming at the top of your lungs. I think this could help with that more "raw" sound that you're after because I find it to be more emotive and intense. My two cents anyways, for what they're worth!

Yeah, I think I'll follow through with another album.
I should clarify on the "more cello" - my apologies I wasn't clear. I was actually thinking of more "layers", not more "frequency". I'm thinking every cello part on a newer album would be like towards the end of track 4 - a multiple cellos sound.
I agree, the cello was a success on PPAJLAK, but having a cello carry a black metal album isn't as good as the guitars carrying it, and was going to tone the frequency of cellos down a bit, focusing on that magical riff out of nowhere where the cello just builds beauty.
You and CW have said the same thing regarding Orationem vocals. I do see your point. Myself, and I've said it before, I've always preferred the "Mortuus from Marduk" style black vocals - deep and with a lot of bite. Their a lot easier to understand, and "adequately masculine" for me. I mean, I cringe at the thought of me, a big bald dude with these extremely high pitched eee! ee! ee! eeeeeeeee! ee! ee! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! vocals in a soup of reverb so thick, I mean, why even say real words?
That being said though, I could see how "more intense" vocals could really add an element of anguish to the music. I've been listening to a lot of DSBM and those "scared man" vocals (like Weakling has) have been slowly getting more appealing to me. Maybe this will be the album where vocals will be revamped. Who knows.
Another thing I forgot to mention - I'm thinking of doing a cassette version of this release as well. I know Vision of God really wants to release this new Orationem. Duane has even been texting me about it. I'm open to a CD propress for this album, but... I don't know. So many choices, and there is a benefit to just releasing it myself again.
I could very well get the album done before I know what the hell I want to do with it.

I love the way my highs sound and the emotion they carry. But I swear when I do them I always imagine someone nearby thinking I'm being assraped while clamping down my balls...
I need to work on getting them just so fearful that the raping vibe goes away

But as a result I end up just doing mids. I appreciate vocalists that do mids, but I like my highs

LOL at my previous post in this thread. "Yeah, I think I'll do another album." HAHA - DONE!
Got another black metal prayer up on my YouTube channel. These riff variations are from the new album. For those who haven't been following this thread, this will be the future of the Orationem project. I hope to do a ton of these. I'm honestly album'ed out - I mean, that's been done and done again. These videos is something new. This is the closest thing I can get to Orationem playing live, so I'd eventually like to expand on this. (after I've exhausted riff variations, this is where brand new riffs will be)
I might consider featuring synth riffs if they're even remotely requested.

I checked out both songs and like them a lot. I'm eager to hear the rest of the album. I'm going to order this very soon. You aren't running low on copies or anything are you Thomas? Besides, you always have the ability to press more if I remember correctly, right?

Mike, I'll save you a copy. Don't worry. I keep orationem.com updated, so if I ran out, I'd be saying it there (and stopping sales) and I'd certainly be saying it here. I think he limited this one for some reason. 75 or 100 copies probably. 60 copies. The pressing company sent a few extra when I asked for 50. The reason is because this release is half-pro/half-DIY. The CD and on disc print I still did myself like the other Orationem albums. The pro aspect is I had 4 panel inserts professionally made - so anyone that gets an album get the lyrics as well. Kai still stock Orationem? I wish I could get a response from Kai. I miss working with him. This last Orationem album was through Vision of God Records, so... Duane has some, not Kai.

Gotcha dude, hopefully I can order this weekend after all bills paid and I'll just order direct from your site. There are more things at VoG I want and I'm not ready to place that big of an order yet but I want to go ahead and get your release so I can be listening to it. Your music is very wintry to me and it's a great time of year for that.

Something I've been thinking about. I know I didn't plan for future Orationem albums, but I was going to keep doing those "black metal prayers".
I think I'll also make individual songs. I don't think I'll make them lyric videos, like the albums, but it will be free songs to jam out to.

I'm very happy with this release! It is exactly what I was wanting to hear, and yet kept me guessing also. I haven't made it all the way through yet but what I've heard so far are some of my favorite Orationem moments. One thing I noticed on this release is how good the vocals are. Sometimes your vocals are overlooked because of how good the drumming is or how noisy the atmospheric sound is. I feel like so far the vocals on this release really stand out, as does the songwriting. Excellent release, Thomas! Very glad I bought this!

I had a goal set for myself to get the new "Your Presence and Strength" album uploaded by Christmas. Goal complete. Here's the lyric videos playlist for the entire "Your Presence and Strength" album.A few announcements. Since there's a limited pressing of this album which will eventually run out, and Vision of God Records is going to do a special pro-press of the self-titled and Fulfiller (ON ONE CD!), whichever happens first, I will stop selling Orationem merch (CDs and shirts) from the dot com, most likely sometime in 2017. This will be the first step towards the newer music, which will be individual songs/prayers on YouTube.

This shirt makes me lawl. I'll wear it forever. HAHA!! Click on the image to see a larger version of it. These shirts are now for sale (for a limited time) at orationem.com When the time comes to stop selling CDs, I'll stop selling shirts as well...

On the Sanctuary International forum, one of the members made a list of 16 "Top Albums and EP's of 2016".
Orationem - Your Presence and Strength made #14 on his list.
Pretty cool!

I know these "Black Metal Prayer" sessions aren't extremely innovative, nor are they "songs", but... I really like them for 2 reasons. 1) Its a way for me to share a short prayer with everyone; its also a prayer anyone can say themselves 2) You can see me in action, should anyone be curious what me making musical mayhem looks like.
