Not sure why there hasn't been a thread yet for shoegaze. This is a genre I want to like so much but find it really hard to get into because I tend to find it boring after thirty minutes. And typically there's a lot more going on in post-rock than shoegaze, so that's what i attribute the difficult for me. Anyway I hope you guys are into shoegaze. There's an extensive map of shoegaze and how to delve into the genre. I'm still in the newbie stage, but i have some shoegaze veteran friends who can attest to the validity of this map so you should check this out when you get a chance.

Wow, I think I've heard of none of those bands, but that map is impressive.
I've heard bands that called themselves blackgaze... but I don't think I've heard one second of shoegaze before.

I checked out a few of the bands in the "darklands" from that map. Sorry. I think I'll pass on this genre of music.

I spent a lot of time in this genre before I rediscovered metal. A lot of good bands if you're interested in a drastic change of direction. Beach house, M83 and MBV have been heavy in rotation in the past. I'll have to revisit the Horrors. I wasn't impressed on the first listen but it's been a few years.

I enjoyed My Bloody Valentine for a while but Loveless was their only stuff I really liked. I got to see them live a few years ago and they were quite good. Oh man, Weighing Souls With Sand by The Angelic Process has been #1 on my want list for YEARS. It got re-relased on vinyl but not CD to my knowledge... Some day maybe I'll find it... I love Alcest and Les Discrets though. I haven't heard of the other bands in the "darklands" section though.

Besides Les Discrets and Alcest, I haven't heard much in the darklands either but I'll get there. I'm actually working on the opposite side of the spectrum: dream pop, noise pop, and the happy stuff. Not everything I listen to has to be dark, I like to expand my horizons.

I'm really liking Flying Saucer Attack, one of the bands in the "noise bottom" section. The production is a little grating, but hopefully it'll grow on me like other "noise" music has. ... What is "noise pop", exactly? I've heard the term, but from the little I heard on YouTube, it mostly seems to just be ... alternative pop?

I do dig them. Had no idea they were shoegaze. Just thought it was atmospheric dark grunge.
The bands I heard just sounded like attempted dubstep with disco vocals.

this is pretty much the most popular noisepop band. Not really my thing, but I respect it! I guess when I saw the word "noisepop" I was picturing something more rhythmic noise oriented. Like this song I did

^ if that track had a dark/minor key melody, I'd dig it much better. Probably why Bozkath is my preference of your music.
It's darker...
