What are your views on mediums? Real or not real? Evil or not evil? Do ghosts exist? If so, what are they?
I've been watching this show (Its a Travel Channel show, but there's 2 seasons of it on Netflix) called "The Dead Files". The premise is a family reaches out to them regarding hauntings and paranormal activity. A retired police detective does interviews and researches the history of the participants and property. A medium does an "opening" and a "walk" and communicates with the dead and... whatever else she finds. (elementals, shadow people, demons, PK manifestations, etc.) They don't share their findings until they meet with the family at the end - and there's a lot of similarities. ...the medium makes a recommendation at the end to "clean" the house.
Its a really good show, regardless of beliefs or if you see it as fact or fiction.
...but some thing from the show presented as fact, I've never heard anywhere else before. - Like ghosts changing shape and presenting themselves as something they're not. (ie: a dead spirit making themselves look like a shadow person, grim reaper, etc.) - Poltergeist and PK Manifestations are "created" unintentionally by someone who's "sensitive". (some level of being able to interact with the dead) - Some entities have the ability to rape and murder - Some entities, she didn't know what they were. Described as some sort of beast or humanoid. - She could take some ghosts home with her to cross them over; they seem to be "attached" to people more than properties
Opinions?

Although some of the mediums are frauds I believe the phenomenon is real. I do not however believe their explanation and description of what happens, and I do not believe that they contact dead relatives etc but rather demonic spirits / fallen angels. It's evil and the mediums are most likely deceived to believe its good or neutral. I would never let a medium "clean" my house, but rather drive the demons out in the power of the name of Jesus Christ. Some references to scripture concerning the topic: Deu 18:9-14, Lev 19:31, Lev 20:27

I'm of the opinion that the "ghosts"/"spirits" are in fact demons and like Cogwheel said, the "medium" is unaware and think it's genuine. On that note, I will admit I did watch this tv show many years ago on sci-fi (hate they rebranded syfy ie SIF-EEE) "Crossing Over with John Edward" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Edward I never missed an episode even tho I wasn't a follower of Christ at the time, to me it was just good entertainment. I also think there's some people who are just scammers as being a medium and use educated guesses and even if the people fill out a questionare or some sort thing before seeing one.

Right now I 'm reading a book about paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Very interesting for sure

Some references to scripture concerning the topic: Deu 18:9-14, Lev 19:31, Lev 20:27 Interestingly enough, sometimes the medium on The Dead Files recommends a Christian "through Christ" cleansing.... but not all the time. It all depends on what she finds there. (I recall one episode where she found a "creature" that targeted women in the house. She recommended a physically strong male warlock for the cleaning.) ...and I don't think the Deuteronomy 18 verses are in the correct context to mediums. They're specific to sorcery and the occult, the deliberate practice of magick and other dark arts. To me, a medium isn't a deliberate practice but a born gift. Regarding the host Amy on The Dead Files, as a child she thought she was insane until she figured out what was going on. (she was seeing/hearing spirits) I'm also leery of anything from Leviticus 19 being applied to modern day Christians. Yes, it states very clear in verse 31 to stay away from mediums. It also says 4 and 5 verses prior not to shave/cut your hair or eat rare steaks. Following the directive a few verses even prior to that would give you a multi-year prison sentence if anyone did that today. (Felony charge of animal cruelty; Felony account of human trafficking) ie: Slaughtering a ram at the mouth of your tent to be forgiven by God if you have sex with your slave and she's in a relationship with someone else. (Lev 19:20-21) Sorry to disagree, but these laws were for a different people, in a different culture for a different time.

Interestingly enough, sometimes the medium on The Dead Files recommends a Christian "through Christ" cleansing.... but not all the time. The mediums do not have the authoroty to do anything in the name of Jesus Christ, so hopefully that part was done by a Christian. (Acts 19:13-16) To me, a medium isn't a deliberate practice but a born gift. Regarding the host Amy on The Dead Files, as a child she thought she was insane until she figured out what was going on. (she was seeing/hearing spirits) This socalled "gift" is in reality a curse / demonic possession, so of course she is seeing / hearing spirits. She is deceived to think its a gift while she is the one that needs to be cleansed. (Acts 16:16-19)

No, the medium on the show never does any cleansing herself. She has recommended to people to get a man of God into their house and do a through-Christ cleansing.
I'm sorry, I don't see how Acts 16:16-19 discusses how being a medium=possession.

I agree wholeheartedly and can testify to the truth of that verse. I never talked to a medium, but I myself used to communicate with spirits. I thought they were... I dunno what you want to say, I thought they were "benevolent"? So I thought it was okay to communicate with them. And it absolutely does become a snare. In more ways than one. Because even if you don't call certain practices "occultism", they still are. No matter what you call them. I was doing a lot more than communicating with spirits, but that was one of the things I was doing. And it wasn't until I read a post somewhere that I really began to question it, and the true nature of those spirits began to show through, and that I began to realize all of the occult lies those spirits were telling me. I'm now 100% convinced that these "benevolent" spirits that people talk about are demons in disguise. We should never communicate with any spiritual force other than the Holy Trinity.
