Please pray for one of my best friends from college Nate. Yesterday I got word that he has been diagnosed with ALS. If you're not familiar, it's a degenerative disease with no cure and on average, someone diagnosed with this disease has two to four years to live - all the while their ability to move, speak, swallow, and the like become increasingly impaired. There's tons of information about it here which I've only begun to scratch the surface of: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosisHe's only in his early-30's. I cannot imagine what this must be like for him or his family but I'm pretty heartbroken over it and don't know how to process it. First and foremost, please pray that God would redeem this situation to bring Himself glory and that through it all God's kingdom would benefit. But secondly, please pray that God would miraculously heal Nate from this.

Kerrick, I have a high school classmate with a daughter that has been living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). They have explained SMA as essentially childhood onset ALS. Recently, they get their daughter enrolled in an expidited drug study for a drug called Spinraza that shows a lot of promise for these kids. I DON'T know if it's an applicable thing for adults, or your friend....but it may be worth tossing out there for his medical team to look into (if they aren't already aware), because this is bleeding edge forefront of treatment stuff, FDA had to fast track the approval for study and all that.
Don't have much more information than the name of the drug and it being pretty new...

Praying. ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease is devastating, but God will redeem the situation for His glory. Will be praying for the peace that passes and surpasses understanding for Nate and his friends and family.

Thank you so much for the prayer guys. Yesterday our group of friends - who are now scattered all over California - got together to spend time with Nate and encourage him. It was a bittersweet time as was expected, but overall I think it meant a lot to him. We had a good time all just spending time together and enjoying one another's company. Continued prayer is definitely appreciated.
Exo, I have not heard of this Spinraza but will look into it; thank you for the heads-up!
