Interesting! Dang, sounds like a cool magazine. I wish there was something like that now...

Oh yes, that is a good song! I got it from Bandcamp too. I wonder who he is, since I dont really know finnish christian metalheads. Armath Sargon came out of the blue as well. It seems the latter has been in secular metal circles before, according to Metal-archives.

I am super stoked. But first, a little info on me: I hate not having a band's complete discography (full-lengths though I'll snag EPs and stuff too sometimes) and will therefore not get into a band solely because I know I won't be able to find their other albums. As y'all know, doom/death is my favorite but I never got into Morphia because their first album is super impossible to find (for a reasonable price). Yesterday I saw it on Amazon new for $44. I shopped around and the only other places were European Amazon sites for 60+ EUR. But still, $44 + s/h is a lot of money... I added it to my cart but was very hesitant to purchase it. But I noticed an offer to get an Amazon credit card and get $10 gift card. So I thought what the heck and did it and got my $10. $34 is much better. BUT they had ANOTHER credit card with $30 gift card! So I got that one too! With shipping, I got the CD for $8. And now I got a couple new credit cards that I'll never use haha. Actually the second card has really good rewards. (And neither have any annual fees.) Win win! Now I gotta get Morphia's other two albums but those are easier to find.

Yeah $40 just for signing up for a couple of credit cards ain't bad! I think I'll probably try to cancel the "store card" but I plan on using the rewards card.
As for Morphia, I'm curious about the live DVD they have too. It comes with an audio CD of the show. Anyone have it? Is it worth buying?

Dude, that rewards card is pretty good though! You get 3% credit back on Amazon purchases, 2% on gas and restaurants, and 1% on everything else! Not too shabby. Well I got the live DVD/CD and listened to the CD once through. It's quite good! The sound and production are very good [always a crap-shoot for live albums]. I'm looking forward to getting Morphia's other two albums in the mail soon. Sawol is working on a new album which I am quite exited for as well!

I found another good one... Russian band called Екклесиаст (translated: Ecclesiastes). They sound great, too. MA lists their lyrical themes as: "Christianity, Reflections, Personal Thoughts". They apparently have a demo, a live album, and three full lengths spanning 1998-2008.

I like Ekklesiast a lot. The album you posted a song from is actually a re-release of their first full-length so they really only have two albums. I have both and they're good! I actually stumbled upon them years ago (because I liked one or two other bands on the Solitude Productions label) and was so stoked when I found out that they're a Christian band.

Aw darn I thought I made a find. I suck, I even spelled their name wrong (in English)! LOL!

Any luck finding the CDs DF? Looks like the re-release of When The Dead... is not too difficult to find though after a brief search, didn't find any CDs of Cold...

Meh, I'm on a money-spending break so I haven't looked yet. When you tell me it's available on Bandcamp my franticness diminishes because I know if worse comes to worse I can get ahold of a good quality digital copy. Make sense?

I got an email about a buy-two-get-one-free deal through the end of August at Cursed Productions. (I think I ordered some of Forsaken's albums here?) Anyways, I noticed they have Cold available! Kinda getting back to the OP, how dark must a band be to be dark metal, but yet not so dark that it becomes black metal? I never got that term.

The few times I saw the term "dark metal" being thrown around, it was basically just gothic black metal. Not sure if there's an actual distinction or not.

Yeah, I think "dark metal" is just something that bands will sometimes choose to describe themselves; it's not an actual genre.

Yeah that's what I observe even though metal archives has it as a defined genre.

I think MA is often right when it comes to what is metal and what isn't, but I think they're way too lenient about letting some "heavy metal/rock" bands onto the site. There are some bands that I listen to and they're clearly rock, but they let them on the site. Meanwhile, even the most metal of metalcore is often rejected. Metalcore bands get on there occasionally, but not often.
I think that August Burns Red is ten times as metal as Rush for example, but whatever...

Core adds up negative points though. See, Rush has like 3 metal points, 0 core points. ABR has like 10 metal points, but like 16 core points so... its like a -6 on the MA metal scale.
LOL

I tend to think of "dark metal" as bands like Rapture, Daylight Dies, etc. They're doom/death metal but very melodic and with a lot of black metal aesthetics. I dunno, it gets so complicated with all the sub-sub-sub-genres...

So. Does that make Exaudi a dark metal band?
They have a blend of gothic/black/death and doom metal.
