Unblack ArchivesUPDATE 25 OCTOBER 2018: CHECK OUT THE PATREON PAGEUPDATE 6 MAY 2019: ADDED A PAYPAL LINKI know which term we use to describe "black metal with Christian intent and/or lyrical themes" is a controversial subject, I really just ... don't care though. So anyway, to help others AND myself keep track of information on bands that are difficult to catalogue, I created this. So for example, I have Hormusck on there. Hormusck never released anything that fits MA's qualifications, but people may still want information about them, so rather than keep all this information in my head / specific threads on here / MA drafts I'll never submit, I created a public blog. I know the format's not "perfect", but I really just ... hahaha, I don't have enough time to work out details. Anyway, thought you guys might be interested, I plan to update this sooooooooooooooooomewhat regularly.

Is anybody here particularly bored and interested in working on this? As long as you have a "Google account" (YouTube, Gmail, Blogspot etc) Google will let me give you permission to post on the blog (though you may want to create a separate one if you normally use your real name?) As long as you try to stick to the general, already loose format I have going, I'm really not going to nitpick what you do. Plus, you don't even have to do research for some of these entries, all you'd have to do is add already-existing information from Bandcamp or YouTube. (I can get some links for you.) Let me know if anyone's interested, thanks

A very nice guy, haven´t talked to him in a long time though He seems like a nice guy, based on his video descriptions And cool that you did his logo. Small world! Which logo did you do for him? I should have 2 on that page.

The shorter/bottom one "SoD". I just talked to him, he´s quite happy that You posted it, he stopped making music for some time now but thinks about picking it up again. The thing is he doesn´t have drums or a decent drum machine and he has problems with his neighbours so recording vocals is a pain. But we´ll see what the future brings.

Stuff like this makes me so happy to read I am so so glad people appreciate this stuff. And even more that he's considering starting up the project again. Maybe he could try some drums in FL Studio or a program like that? Or, personally, I just use the "drum" sounds on my keyboard. Maybe he has something like that? As for vocals, I could do some session vocals, once my recorder is finally fixed Or if he wants to go for a more "raw" sound, I might be able to help now, since I can still technically "record" with my cellphone.

Sacred Forests looks awesome on the blog! I didn't even notice there were backward lyrics -- good catch.

I FINALLY got the Sacred Forests photos in a nice, neat order. For whatever reason, it is BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE to arrange images in Blogspot posts. Like I would tell it to align a photo to the left -- and then it'd send the photo up near the top of the page! I'd try to click and drag an image, and the entire section of photos would just go crazy. This also happens any time I dare try to list different variations of album artwork, band photos, etc next to each other on Blogspot, too. Edit: Oh, and in general, I've been making new pages, making updates etc for this blog, I just didn't think it was necessary to make a post every time a new page went up.

I made a page for Erlösung. This is a MASSIVE, like, GIGANTIC labor of love for the scene. This page took such an insane amount of effort you can't even begin to picture it. Hopefully, anybody looking for a nice, orderly, and most importantly COMPREHENSIVE look at Erlösung's discography will FINALLY have one. Edit: Oh, and in general, I've been making new pages, making updates etc for this blog, I just didn't think it was necessary to make a post every time a new page went up. This is still the case, by the way.

I NEED VOLUNTEERS
From this point on, I will be adding ALL Christian black metal bands to this blog. This is a pretty huge undertaking, and if I can get some help, I would definitely appreciate it. There's no minimum amount of work you need to do. Whether you add one page, or a hundred, your help is greatly appreciated. Whether you stick around and update things regularly, or if you just contribute a bit and then stop, that's fine, you do not need to commit to anything to help me with this. Literally all you need is: a Blogger account, the ability to write blog posts (ie, knowing how to highlight text and click the "Bold" button, etc), and a willingness to kinda try to stick to the format I have going for posts on there. I can happily give you a template if you want.
I will be copy/pasting this to a few other people / places. Get in touch if you're interested and able. Thank you so much.

I am willing to try to help at some point but free time is limited right now. It has been a really crazy year and things are getting crazier. When I get some laptop time I'll take a look at what you are working on and try to get a feel for it.

VERY much appreciated, Deepfriar. If you can make a post here, you can make a blog post on Unblack Archives, and like I said, there's no minimum amount of effort you have to put in. I'll happily go back and touch up anything if you can't figure out some of the formatting, etc. But even so, I totally understand being busy and totally get if you don't get the time to help out with this. Just the fact that you WANT to is greatly appreciated, trust me.

Of course I want to bro. I don't have a whole lot of things I'm passionate about, but this (extreme Christian metal) is one of them. I make submissions on Discogs and they are VERY picky about formatting. I can definitely follow your format.

So I've got questions for you, but it might be easier if I could do some sort of 'messaging' with you... do you use Facebook? I know, it's a polarizing platform and I don't care for them as a corporation either.. but it's invaluable for keeping in touch with family and a great way to share your life when you are an introvert lol. I use FB Messenger almost exclusively (except for a couple people who use regular SMS Text Messaging). Are you using MA as source material, or various sources? I noticed some releases have lyrics.. are you wanting lyrics posted at all times if available? What will I need to get started, just your login information? Is there any rhyme or reason to the 'order' in which you are adding bands/releases? What's the best way to see if something has already been added, CTRL+F? [Edit]Never mind; I see there is an integrated search function already. Lol.[/Edit]

Much of my work life has incorporated some form of data entry into its responsibilities, so I tend toward the 'more-detailed' than the 'less-detailed', so do you have a template that includes all possible headings (I.E. Links, YouTube samples, etc.)? Would it be easier to prepare the posts in Notepad first (helps to remove all formatting from things copy-pasted from the internet)? Do you want lyrics proof-read for typos?
I actually like the simplistic approach. No fancy font-size changes or unnecessary elaborate decorative embellishments. Nice work so far, mate.

Sure! band logo (please upload it, don't just paste a link because those break a lot :( )
band photo (again, please please upload)
BAND NAME: bandname GENRE: Genre Metal (if you're not sure, just copy Metal Archives lolol) STATUS: Active/Split up/Unknown ((or if they changed their name: Changed Name Active/etc under their new name, bandname2)) LOCATION: Country (State/Province If Applicable)
Here's where you put any additional notes like the meaning of their band name,
Lineup: Name - Instrument (you can put years active if you really want to but it's not that important) Name - Instrument Past members: Name - Instrument You only have to use "past members" if there are any of course
Links: YouTube (highlight each site name, click the "add link" thing) Facebook JustinBieberOfficialFanClub Bandcamp Etc
Discography:
cover art (if you have anything else like back artwork, booklet scans, I'll take care of those for you, those can get messy)
Name (Demo/Album/Single/etc, 00 Month, Year, label/Independent) Format: "CD" or "Cassette" etc, or if it's digital use "Digital / Bandcamp", "Digital / iTunes" etc (if there's more than one version, I'll take care of the other versions, those get messy too) Buy the CD (OFFICIAL) [[or Stream / Download (OFFICIAL), etc. Make these into links too. Always put (OFFICIAL) at the end of each one to help emphasize that we only put official links so people don't write both of us a bunch of emails :(
IF THERE ARE NO LYRICS 1) Song Title 1:00 2) Song Title 1:30
IF THERE ARE LYRICS 1) Song Title 1:00, lyrics: Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way
2) Song Title 1:30, lyrics: Jingle bells and so on
cover art for the next album, repeat
cover art for the next album, repeat
__________________________________________ IncompletePage (make this red), CouldUseBetterImages (make this yellow), UncertainInfo (make this dark yellow/brown/whatever)
Use the first one if you 100% know there's something missing from the page. ALSO PLEASE USE THIS IF YOU USE "CHANGED NAME" SO I REMEMBER GO BACK AND ADD A LINK TO THE NEW BAND NAME. Use the 2nd one if you don't have good quality images on hand. UA doesn't have a filesize limit so I'm really really trying to emphasize higher quality, use the 3rd one if you have information that isn't confirmed (like "rumored" demos, or lineup info that you happen to know varies across different websites, etc) I wrote this rather quickly so let me know if you're still confused about anything This isn't 100% everything but I feel bad asking anything more lol.

Okay, when do I start? What do I need, login information? A Google account / email address. You could PM it to me if you like instead of posting it publicly. I'll probably be going offline for a couple hours soon, but when I get back on here later, I have to go to the "settings" on Blogspot and add your account to the "admin" thing or whatever it's called

Okay NI, I made my first page for The Slave Eye. I marked it IncompletePage because I wasn't sure if you wanted to add additional artwork for the limited edition version of the CD. I also wasn't sure how you wanted to reference the bonus tracks, so I simply added the titles at the end of the Unto Hades EP release and put, "(bonus track, ltd. ed. CD only, see Black Rust demo for lyrics)"... feel free to change it if you want it done a different way and I'll look at your changes and try to use your preferred format. Hope you like my work. It is indeed a bit tedious, so I see why you asked for help! Makes me appreciate your work thus far much more. Take it easy, bro.

It is indeed a bit tedious, so I see why you asked for help! Makes me appreciate your work thus far much more. Take it easy, bro. I didn't see this post until right now. (Hence well after I sent the PM about center alignment lolololol) Yeah, I'll look over it better tomorrow. The limited editions are a mess so I have no idea. Worse comes to worse I'll send them a message. There isn't really a particular way to note songs limited to certain versions, I probably won't change that. Honestly "take it easy" is probably going to be the most difficult part of all this I have exactly two modes: 1) sitting around and whining about how tired I am and 2) GOTTA GET STUFF DONE. One thing worth noting though is, you don't have to change the color of links to yellow. They'll automatically become that color when you add the links to the text So hopefully that makes it a bit easier. EDIT: Since it's getting so many views (how is it getting so many views?!?!) I decided to look over it now instead. Since this is a page that's getting more views than usual, and since I'm already tired, I figured this would be a perfect time to experiment with unconventional page formatting and, instead of putting 40 million pictures for the album layouts like I usually do, I just compiled them into one single JPG for each version instead. I think it turned out okay, but it's your page just as much as mine. If you think it'd look better some other way, don't hesitate to try it out Overall you did a GREAT job on this, and a band with three versions of the same release was NOT an easy first page to do. Heck, I wasn't really sure what to do with it myself. But yeah, this turned out EXCELLENT!

Since it's getting so many views (how is it getting so many views?!?!) That is probably my fault, I always make a couple typographical errors or formatting errors and fix them when I proofread the post, so I was using F5 to refresh the page several times to review my changes and make sure everything looked right. I like what you did with the album covers. Glad you like my work! Can't promise how often I can get to do pages but I at least wanted to show you I can definitely be a help and follow your format.
