Pleasant update: Nike are pursuing legal charges. Came here to say the same thing. I'm actually happy to be wrong that Nike really didn't know and weren't involved.

Well, this was discussed on Discord and the screen of the twitter interaction was pulled by the mods for obvious reasons, but I'll do my best to remember the interaction that literally infuriated everyone there who read it: Twitter person: "Hey what are yall gonna wear to Lil Nax X's cancelling?" Little Nas X Twitter Alt replying: "I really want to f@#k my nephew, but he's only 3 years old. "

Man is thirsty for attention in the worst possible way. We've reached levels of intersecting cringe + edginess that are far surpassing the early 2000s.

I guess it just dawned on me, I don't even have to be on Twitter to still hear about the "Nasty's" there. Stay far away from Twitter. There's nothing edifying on there. Today I went down a Twitter rabbit hole watching fight videos, so this is as much a message to myself as anyone. So glad I don't have an account anymore.

It's almost as if the police were not our friends... On the positive side, I watched a video of a guy in Canada screaming at the police to leave his church bc they didn't have a warrant. They left.

There was a new comment on one of my older Orationem YouTube videos. They pointed out Christian metal, but "wearing a Dark Funeral shirt and smoking". (it's vaping, but its nicotine, so I guess their point would still stand.)
I don't really know what to say to that. I feel like its a lose lose situation. I could only wear Christian metal shirts and be accused of being pious or "scared" of non-Christian metal.... or I could wear non-Christian metal shirts and be accused of hypocrisy or being a poser among Christians.
Just goes to show that someone can't put their music out there for judgement, without also putting themselves out there for judgement.

I guess this is what passes as a Christian devotional book from Target nowadays. Ah yes, lets not only make it about skin color, but lets ask God to help us hate too.

Well, at least it's not The Message.
Intersectional Leftism is really weird. Even when you get into it and kind of understand it from the inside--it's still really weird.
My favorite part is the part below the circle: "I am not talking about the White antiracist allies who have taken up this struggle against racism with their whole lives--the ones who stood vigil for weeks outside..." Ah yes--the only good "white" people are the ones whose entire lives revolve around a struggle against racism as defined by a small minority of academics.
Interestingly, the idea of "Whiteness" and "White People" is actually a racist invention. The concept did not exist in ancient times or the middle ages. It was basically invented to justify enslaving black Africans, and was often used to marginalize people who look white, like Eastern Europeans, Italians, and Jews. I recently learned that in the South before the Civil War, poor white people and black people were basically friendly--it was the rich slaveowners who hated black people. And after the war, it was the rich (former) slaveowners who instituted segregation and started driving up racial tensions to make sure the poor people didn't unite and take over.
Hmmm...it's almost like racial divisions are incited by a wealthy elite in order to distract from vast inequalities of wealth and power.

I'm a middle-aged caucasian male, but I identify as a weary black woman. If I hate myself, does that make me racist?

Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him - 1 John 3:15
unless that brother or sister is WHITE. Then PRAY THAT GOD WILL GIVE YOU EVEN MORE HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 1 John 3:16

Then PRAY THAT GOD WILL GIVE YOU EVEN MORE HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- 1 John 3:16 I was just thinking, "Unless they're white, then they're not a brother or sister and you can murder and hate them". LOL (kinda LOL in a sad, disappointing way) Ah yes--the only good "white" people are the ones whose entire lives revolve around a struggle against racism as defined by a small minority of academics. If the author would have asked God for help to hate white racism, white crimes, or black injustice... I probably wouldn't have thought much about it. There is mention (transliterated of course) in the Bible about hating unrighteousness and sin.... Hating ideas and other "inanimates" isn't too out there. I mean, I don't think a Christian would have to repent their life over "hating broccoli cheese dip". They could probably maintain a healthy faith while still "hating" that. ...but hating people? No. That's where this pastor psychologist is WAY off. I'm a middle-aged caucasian male, but I identify as a weary black woman. If I hate myself, does that make me racist? I think nowadays, that just makes you a liberal. ...though the gendered language used would make the trans elites feel unsafe.

Patrisse Cullors, Black Lives Matters co-founder, in an interview with Jared Ball of the Real News Network said "We are trained Marxists."
Just out of pure curiosity, I would like to know their thoughts on the letter Marx wrote to Engels on July 30th, 1862.

I had a rather interesting discussion recently with some Christian metal bros over a project. They thought a certain band was "harmful" to the Christian metal scene. Not because of lyrical themes (which seem quite Christian to me) or any other questionable-faith type controversy. They thought the music was a bad representation of Christian metal quality. (the discussion also included "change my mind") I listened to it, and rather enjoyed it - but I wouldn't consider it metal. More like some type of noisecore, or noise infused grind, or metal influenced noise... something like that. firstbornofthedead.bandcamp.com/album/firstborn-of-the-dead-2021-editionNot sure if anyone's minds were changed this day, but it goes to show, shopping music in the wrong genre can certainly throw folks off. If someone made some country death metal and tried shopping the country music scene with it, they'd just think it was country music done so wrong.... but if it were shopped around as "southern fried slam", a number of metal folks would probably really appreciate it. I like ice cream, and I like pizza, but if I took a bite of ice cream (thinking it would be ice cream) and it tasted like pizza, I'd at first think it was terrible, or there was something seriously wrong with it...

The idea that music can be "harmful" to a movement because it doesn't meet people's standards of quality just pisses me off so much. It's so pharisaic, so "ivory tower" "holier-than-thou". What's more harmful, the disciples being tax collectors, fishermen etc and not professional speakers? Or pharisees telling Jesus to stop healing people on the Sabbath? I listened to it, and rather enjoyed it Also I enjoy Firstborn of the Dead a lot, as well!

The idea that music can be "harmful" to a movement because it doesn't meet people's standards of quality just pisses me off so much. "Quality" is such a subjective thing, it would certainly take a level of ego to think NO ONE would like something. ...but in this case, I feel like this is more about a "genre miscommunication" than it would be "hater metalheads". I mean, if a country music podcast started reviewing thrash albums because they thought they were country, of course they would bash their "quality". Likewise for metalheads bashing noise because they thought it would be metal. :B

Duane from VoG gave me a CD of Firstborn of the Dead at Audiofeed. I popped it in my car thinking it was going to be a thrash album.
Nope.
Also, I forgot to mention it, but I'm a DJ at my college station now--and yes, I'm doing a metal show.

I also keep getting confused because "Firstborn of the Dead" is both the name of the band Thomas shared, and also the name of NeverDead's very, very rare album. So when julienbakerfan mentioned a "Firsborn of the Dead CD" I nearly had a heart attack!
