The church on the right has a pentagram on it.

A burning church is more related to black metal ideology, than Christian theology.
I'm not saying this band is sinning, or claiming the band isn't Christian. I would be just as certain they love God.
It just disturbs me when Christian black metal reflects themes more anti-satanic or a 'mocking Satanism' spin on black metal ideology, rather than being Christian themed.
My issue with war metal lyrics and this artwork, is cut from the same cloth.

I swear, Christian metal brings the incels out of the woodwork. I wish someone (Pastor Bob?) would address this kind of behavior. It's not a good look for the scene. The most graphic and disturbing album cover I've ever seen was a Christian metal release. And yes, I've seen the cover of the Mayhem bootleg. This was worse. It literally gave me a nightmare. This is not why I listen to Christian metal. Part of the reason I listen to Christian metal is to avoid stuff like this. If I'm scrolling through Christian metal on Bandcamp, I shouldn't see extreme gore or disturbing imagery. I shouldn't hear disturbing, explicit, violent lyrics. I've honestly grown distant from the Christian metal scene lately, for several reasons: --this kind of edgelord crap. --Extreme legalism/theological drama on just about every online space but this one. --Literal Nazi sympathy on a Facebook group, unaddressed by mods. --Right-wing politics. Christian metal is becoming the right-wing version of the punk scene--don't you dare disagree with the party line. --The scene feels at least 5 years behind, musically speaking. --Sifting through a lot of releases that are "Christian good" at best. This is probably just burnout due to trying to listen to every new release for about a year.

I wish someone (Pastor Bob?) would address this kind of behavior. It's not a good look for the scene. I haven't talked to him much personally, but I think I'll send him an email about it. (SENT!) This is not why I listen to Christian metal. Part of the reason I listen to Christian metal is to avoid stuff like this. If I'm scrolling through Christian metal on Bandcamp, I shouldn't see extreme gore or disturbing imagery. I shouldn't hear disturbing, explicit, violent lyrics. Sad for me to say, but even more disturbing than what you mentioned, is when a Christian metal label/ministry (who I thought wouldn't release this type of stuff cause they shot other stuff like this down over a year ago), flails like its junior high debate, when confronted on the decision to publish this type of stuff now. I've honestly grown distant from the Christian metal scene lately, for several reasons: --this kind of edgelord crap. Nailed it. ...and even edgelord aspects aside, its max level cringe that these projects can't creatively come up with a single other theme, other than to imitate their secular counterparts, only pointing the same themes in a different direction. --Extreme legalism/theological drama on just about every online space but this one. This goes beyond Christian metal and has infested Christianity in general IMO. --Literal Nazi sympathy on a Facebook group, unaddressed by mods. Yeesh. --Right-wing politics. Christian metal is becoming the right-wing version of the punk scene--don't you dare disagree with the party line. Pretty much? I lean right politically speaking, but even in my non-social-media-Christians-in-metal-circles, I've seen where things seem to be a tab bit more "Q-ish" than what I would expect or believe. Sifting through a lot of releases that are "Christian good" at best. This is probably just burnout due to trying to listen to every new release for about a year. Still better than what's taking place in other Christian metal circles, where the recommendations are the same as they were 20 years ago.

I find it difficult to weigh the war metal thing very objectively.
I mean there's a line, no doubt about it. The sexual lyrics clearly go against the commandments we're given, and shouldn't be in something called "Christian".
... But I also find a lot of value in music that's just vicious/angry. I guess it's a kind of "coping skill". Listening to that stuff helps me calm down. And I'd much rather listen to someone growl over-the-top angry things for God, than growl over-the-top angry things for Satan.

I can't speak for all Christian Metalheads. The scene has been going up and down for a long time. When things are good, it goes south quickly. Whether it is something a musician said or done that pissed off the scene, some will jump into it or leaving the faith, we become upset. it is the same cycle. I pray to God to do something amazing, so He can be glorified. It is not about me or how unpopular my opinions are. Our God is bigger than these silliness. We will see revival in the scene. Just let us wait and see, my brothers.

Still better than what's taking place in other Christian metal circles, where the recommendations are the same as they were 20 years ago. To some degree that's probably the case in every scene--the reason that r/metal on reddit has their list of banned artists is because if they didn't, the whole sub would be nothing but Sabbath, Maiden, Slayer, and Gojira. It also seems like hyping stuff that came out 20 years ago and ignoring new stuff is becoming a problem for rock in general. But, like I said, Christian metal seems to be about 5 years behind. On the other hand, I haven't personally been hyped for any new Christian releases since the last Cerimonial Sacred. Maybe I just need to get caught up on some new releases (aka new releases that aren't Wytch Hazel).

... But I also find a lot of value in music that's just vicious/angry. I guess it's a kind of "coping skill". Listening to that stuff helps me calm down. And I'd much rather listen to someone growl over-the-top angry things for God, than growl over-the-top angry things for Satan. I can relate to "vicious/angry" sounding music being like an "audio punching bag" (no real punching bag required) so I get the calming effect aspect too. Violence in lyrics is another story to me... Secular violent lyrics, I can write it off in my head as fiction. Anything there, isn't truth, so I've already got a guard up. I'm investing nothing into it, so its either good music, or not. (the music is what I'm there for anyway) With Christian music, my heart wants to open up for the faith based message. ...but when there's violence there too, its a problem. Its like God is the cheese and violence is the mousetrap. So at what point can I get God, without having the violence slam down into my heart? I don't know - and its infuriating to me to have to deal with "a trap". Even more infuriating that my choices are to open my heart to violence in Christian lyrics, or protect myself by filing violent Christian lyrics under "not real" or "fiction" in my brain, so the lyrics don't send me reeling. (considering Christian lyrics to be fiction or "not a message" is actually harder for me to accept, than violence being there, which is already unacceptable to me) Really, this falls under the realm of personal conviction. They may not be singing their sin, but they're singing mine. In my 20s, I was convicted of a series of batteries, up to and including a felony aggravated battery. The last thing I need to do in my 40s, is open my heart up again to violence, because I now accept it as part of my Christian music diet. I would be complaining very much the same way if Christian metal lyrics were laced with alcohol. Front cover is metalheads with a beer in one hand and a guitar in the other, lyrics to all songs are themed "a beer with Jesus, good times". Again, they may not be singing their sin - it could really be good times with Jesus for them... but for me to do the same or even accept the same, it would be playing with poison. (alcohol to me, is poison) Romans 14:20 states "it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.". How is it not also wrong, for a Christian to broadcast violence in their own "Christian message", that can make another person stumble? All of this would be a nonissue if these projects didn't consider what they were doing to be Christian. (filed under secular fiction, problem solved)

You're telling me you aren't a fan of legendary Belgravian zero-man depressive suicidal blackened black metal band Dying Angels?
You don't have their 6.66" split with Goatwitch?
Are you even a black metal fan?

I don't think the Offspring will get canceled. NOFX had a worse backlash a few yeara ago, but their touring ban didn't even last that long. I suspect we'll see a breathless MetalSucks article, a canned apology from the band, and in a month no one will care.

1) I should get better at creating new threads rather than dumping everything into this thread. 2) Metal Helm people started a new ministry. It's probably googable. That's cool: I'm glad they're following where they feel led.

Today I learned that the band Satan does not actually sing about Satan, or care that much for that matter.
I feel pleasantly surprised yet vaguely cheated.

It probably worked back in the early 80s.
I also have a feeling that the members were rather edgy in the early 80s and tried to put this phase behind them, as the band changed names several times.

Normally when I get my mower blades sharpened, I take them off my mower, take them to the little small motor shop that's about 2 blocks down from where I live, and they get the blades sharpened in about 10 minutes for $5. Yesterday when I went to take the blades off my mower, they wouldn't budge - I've only got elbow grease and a crescent wrench, so I ended up throwing my (push) mower in the back of my vehicle and driving it down there. They said getting the blades off wouldn't be a problem, but they took my name, contact info, and said they'd call me when they got the blades sharpened.
Then he pushed my mower against the wall and walked away.
I somehow immediately knew he wasn't calling me that same day. I just hope I get a call today so I can mow my yard. (before it becomes more "bailing hay" than "cutting grass" LOL)

Thomas Eversole I hope they get back to you today/tomorrow. I have been in contact with a local print shop in person and via email over a course of weeks and they keep saying they will call me "tomorrow" with info on the next step and they never do. They are super nice and seem passionate about what they do ... buuut how many times do I bother them before concluding they aren't actually interested or able (but why?) to help.

Margaret Sanger (Founder of Planned Parenthood) wrote to Dr Gamble in December 1939, that they didn't want word to get out they were trying to exterminate 'a specific population'. In lieu of using the words she used, people in favor of aborting the unborn, don't even acknowledge the blatant genocidal racism that was at the core of the American Legal Abortion complex.
Its one of the greatest schemes pulled off in the United States. Racists and classists who want to manufacture the killing of choice babies, were able to convince millions of women that it's racist and against their freedom, to not have a choice to kill their babies.

This is heavy stuff. Not so many know about this. ...and if "they" do know this, they keep it under wraps just to maintain a narritive. This is one aspect of it that doesn't make sense to me. ...like literally, everything is racist if you search google. By everything, I mean, everything I can think of. (walking, air conditioners, gardening, breathing, etc.) - there's SOMEONE explaining the racism behind that. But Margret Sanger dropping the 5-letter N bombs, talking about training a preacher to their ideals so they can "straighten out" who thinks they're trying to, literally, commit genocide on blacks.... but this isn't racist?Another aspect that doesn't make sense to me. Some BLM folks called themselves trained Marxists, but if anyone read the letter Marx wrote to Engels, July 30th 1862, Marx himself was dropping 6-letter N bombs a few times. ... but this isn't racist?
