Is there an album up somewhere? The song I linked is from their album "As the Leaves Fall". I don't think you can get it anywhere officially -- they split up a long time ago -- but there's a copy on Discogs. is Reverorum ib malacht really a christian music project? There seem to be some (online) magazines etc. who write, that it is all just "show" for the sake of provocation. Yes. I've talked to Emil. He and Mikael are Christians. (I have no idea if the new band members are or not.) I will say, Emil does seem to enjoy provocation (something he admitted in an interview, actually!) but he isn't lying about being Christian.

Second question: thankfully autumn is about to arrive... I'd like to hear your favourite autumnal music pieces! 🍁

I think there was a thread somewhere around here to share pieces of scripture... But I can't finf it. If this thread exists, can anybody tell me where to find it? There's a few older threads here that were "scripture-ish", but still not really encompassing something like a "The Scripture Thread". I personally would like to see one... I myself would contribute a few things on behalf of inspiration or why I have certain opinions about certain things. EDIT: I do have a concern with a thread like this.... that it would somehow turn into "scripture wars". ...but I still would like to see what this thread would accomplish... Second question: thankfully autumn is about to arrive... I'd like to hear your favourite autumnal music pieces! 🍁 Sorry friend - I'm no help here. The artists I listen to in autumn, are the same for winter, summer and spring.

I'd like to hear your favourite autumnal music pieces! Hm... Can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean music that's specifically themed around autumn? Or any music that reminds us of autumn? I have some songs that I really think you'd like, but before I list them, I want to be sure of what you're asking.

Hm... Can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean music that's specifically themed around autumn? Or any music that reminds us of autumn? I was thinking about any kind of music that reminds us of autumn and has an autunmal atmosphere coming with it. Something that makes your mind dive into that autumnal gloom and darkness (the good side of it ) that is hopefully to come.

To whom it applies: why do you enjoy your life?

In no order:
1) Animals. 2) The sense of accomplishing something / overcoming obstacles / etc however big or small each goal may be. 3) Music / art. 4) Friends. I don't really have many in my introverted, isolated circle, but the ones I do have, I appreciate a LOT. 5) Learning. 6) The inherent beauty of our world. Nature or man-made. 7) The fact that the valid and true Gospel assures us of an objective purpose to our lives, and that life is NOT a miserable, purposeless void as postulated by illiterate internet ""philosophers""

To whom it applies: why do you enjoy your life? Because its either enjoy life, or endure it. Any reason can be for or against enjoying life, and we absolutely have a choice in the matter.

To whom it applies: why do you enjoy your life? Awesome question. Lots of thoughts, but I'll just share the one in which I'm trying to grow. Ecclesiastes 5:19 Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God. (ESV) It would seem that having things to enjoy and having the power to enjoy them are two separate things. There are many things for me to enjoy in my life. I struggle with actually enjoying them. Lots of things take away my power to enjoy. I enjoy that God has given me the power to enjoy the things that I enjoy. Right now, it's a lovely cup of tea and the opportunity to think about important questions.

I wonder if any of you also ordered Pastor Bob's "Metal Devo" as devotional for this year? If so, would anybody be interested in more or less reading it together, means sharing thoughts on TBL about the texts? It doesn't have to be every day. Just now and then and when ever it appears to be fitting.

barabbas Sometimes I feel my liking of a comment is an insufficient expression of gratitude for responding, so I wanted to thank you for your thoughtful response using these words. anfauglith I bought his other book (though even that I don't have with me now), but I didn't buy his metal devo. Maybe avjr has? I hope you can get some good stuff out of it.

I have the book. I read it 2 years ago, and I love it. I listened to the audio podcast this morning, and I love it too. God speaks to us in perfect timing. We just have to listen to Him.

Am I a retro guy? 😲 I realized that many of the black metal bands that appeal to me somehow have a similar sound like black metal sounded in the end-90s when I discovered black metal. Dammit, I don't want to be some kind of living fossil dwelling in the (or in my) past and waiting for The Beatles in corpse paint to return... 🧐😉

Dammit, I don't want to be some kind of living fossil dwelling in the (or in my) past and waiting for The Beatles in corpse paint to return... 🧐😉 I saw an album on Metal Archives today, that people were criticizing because it sounded too much like generic, 2nd wave black metal. That bothered me a lot. Is it really becoming a trend in black metal to hate 2nd wave music?? Granted, there's a lot to hate about the 2nd wave's ideologies, but the music itself is often wonderful. And I only discovered black metal in 2007 when I was 12-13 years old.

Somehow 2nd wave black metal was already hated during the 2nd wave... By some... I remember some fighting about the questions of keyboards... har har. Have to admit I always liked keyboards in black metal to a certain amount. One must not drown the whole sound in cheesy key sounds... but some keys over the right parts of a song: just great! I guess I am not really a retro guy... there is no real danger of me just listening to some of the albums I listened to back then. I still like some of them today, but it's not like I feel like nothing good happened in music since then. there's a lot to hate about the 2nd wave's ideologies What exactly do you mean?

[quote author=" nocturnaliridescence" s The church burnings, the "black metal is for white people", the elitism, the murders, ...[/quote] Ah, okay, of course. ( Guess I was in the wrong time, thinking about the late 90s, when at least the church burnings where more or less already a thing of the past. Not satanic and anti human ideologies, but the arsons (I think, but might be wrong?) stopped somewhere around 96.

...leading me to another dumb question: until what point do we speak of the 2nd wave? I just consider the end of the 2nd wave, to be when music stopped sounding like "2nd wave black metal". Which... based on the music I've heard, would be somewhere around 2007? Granted, this is probably a very late estimate for most people. But that's when I got into black metal, and I noticed that black metal released after I got into it, began to sound "different" than the stuff I had heard before. Also, I didn't look at my post after I submitted it -- I see the code in it is very broken. Oops.

Sorry again for asking stupid questions... I feel like I don't know anything about music...
So, first wave would be Bathory, Venom, Celtic Frost and such?
Second wave is for example the early classic Norwegian bands?
And this late 90s stuff is still second wave despite more "refined" sounds, keyboards, more melodic approach?
I am not trying to smart-ass around, I really don't know and like to know. My knowledge there is very blurry.

Just happen to think about the question wether christian metal bands are rated fair in general. Speaking for myself I wish to read reviews that are in no direction based on certain prejudgements. I do not want to read favourable reviews for christian bands because they are christians when in fact they are boring to listen to and also I do not want amazing bands to get crushed because they believe in Christ. Also... I think one must be honest about that there are quite a lot bands that are utter trash, bot secular and christian. Which is, seen from another point of view, a good thing, because it has to do with how easy it is nowadays to make music and get connected with other people. Anyway... I sometimes read through a german metal zine called "Waldhalla" and I really like their approach. They reviewed for example Spätregen and gave them a more positive review, just based on music, while other reviewers from other zines might have crushed Spätregen for being christian.

I do not want to read favourable reviews for christian bands because they are christians when in fact they are boring to listen to I am probably slightly guilty of this, but not intentionally -- I just seem to have very strange musical tastes. There are several Christian bands I listen to that are generally deemed "crap" that I enjoy a lot. ... But then again, there were also several secular bands I liked that got less favorable reviews than I thought they deserved... and also I do not want amazing bands to get crushed because they believe in Christ. ... but they ALL got better reviews than they would have gotten if they were Christian. It's SO ANNOYING.

No, because I'm not a hippie.
Also, I just don't like food that much. I don't mean that I don't enjoy eating. But if there were no health problems involved, I could easily eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch every single day of my life from here on out. I don't make cool recipes and I don't eat out at neat places. Honestly, I think I like metal better than food.
