I was listening to the below track [Wolves In The Throne Room - A Looming Resonance] and was wishing there was more music out there like this, particularly something that is worshiping of God.
Does anyone know of any Christian bands that make music like this or the below Alcest song?
I'm looking for something ethereal, beautiful, melodic, etc. - but with a black metal base, preferably with clean (male or female) vocals along the lines of the two above songs. The closest thing I can think of is Vials Of Wrath (musically, not vocally) and GRIM - Vespers but I'm thirsty for more. Or in general Christian post black metal. Thanks!

I can't think of other Christian black metal, but I do know of more secular groups....
Thing is though, with a clean lead vocal on black metal, its... not really black metal anymore. Just like jazz that went verse chorus, verse chorus with no more than 3 notes. ...that's not jazz.
....but I know what you mean.
Still. I don't want to leave you empty handed. Unsun's first self titled might scratch your itch. Guitar has all tremolo. (Black metal sounding) Keys that are black metal sounding. Not a scream in sight. Lyrics are surprisingly positive. Drums are popish on the video below, but other tracks, they pick up the metal. I really like this album actually.

Maybe the beckoning? Corinne definitely did some experimental clean vocals on Lunar Invasion.

How about blackened power metal? Corinne just did this track and it's super rad!

Thanks guys! I do really dig that Aldegar song. It's not quite what I'm looking for but it sounds pretty good. Do you know if they're going to be doing a full-length or anything?
Unsun sounds pretty good, though I looked up the bandmembers and they're in some pretty evil/satanic other bands so I'll probably skip...
I don't particularly care for "gothic metal" (sans a few exceptions) but am more looking for something closer to Alcest or WITTR's melodic stuff. I much prefer the tone of Jamie Meyers' voice than the more operatic stuff that's typical in gothic metal bands.
On a somewhat related note, I seem to recall someone posting on the old forum about a Christian post-black metal band but I don't remember the name. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

I'm the one who made that post on BHF. Scroll is a wonderful band, but there's no clean singing... scroll.bandcamp.com/

Yes, we will have an Aldegar full length soon but that track is just Corinnes nod to nightwish and not going to be on the track list. We are actually a folk metal band but it just so happens that she had just done this when I saw this thread.

Cool! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you folks! Thanks Crimson, I just downloaded the Scroll EP. I checked it out last night and really liked it but my internet was too slow to try and download it so now it's on a thumb-drive at my work desk haha. I'll put it onto my iTunes when I get home!

Unsun sounds pretty good, though I looked up the bandmembers and they're in some pretty evil/satanic other bands so I'll probably skip... I'm sorry my friend. This makes no sense to me. ...especially since you listen to Weakling. (guitarist was in Black Goat) I mean, you're welcome to your reserve. If you didn't want to listen to the band because the music video was the color blue and you don't like blue. ...that's you're right. I just don't understand it. It being not listening to music for something other than the contained lyrics and music.

John was in Black Goat for like a minute and I don't the other guy in BG was in Weakling very shortly too and I'm not even sure if he recorded anything with them. John has stated in an interview how dumb the anti-Christian stuff is.
I guess I should expand on my reasoning for that... 1) If I know the "heart" behind the music is blatantly against the most important thing in my life - even if not explicitly stated IN that specific music - it's impossible for me to enjoy and appreciate it as much as I would something else. 2) I am very much a purist when it comes to listening to bands and so when I get into a band, I intend to get all their albums for the "full experience" as one might say haha. I've been burned by bands in the past where I'll read the lyrics to one album and be fine with them, only to get their next album which I disagree with. Then that goes back to #1 and I have a much harder time enjoying either album... So to save me the trouble, I just stay clear of anything that's questionable.
On the flip-side, it goes the other way too. Mr. Eversole here is a prime example! He had started a thread over on CMR about Christian artists you don't like to support and gave an example of a band whose member(s) was/were on another forum who had some choice things to say. I found the thread and was put off by what Thomas responded with, thus not wanting to buy his stuff. But for some reason I felt the need to address that with him and once we started talking, I had a much fuller perspective of him and his heart. And now I really enjoy his tunes - probably more so than had I never known him at all.

That makes more sense. I think I was also misinterpreting "impossible to enjoy" as "refuse to listen to". I could and would listen to Oblation. ...but I probably would have enjoyed it more if the bass player wasn't a jerk. (so I thought at the time) If that makes any sense.

Ok good. I realize I have a pretty severe disconnect with what I'm thinking and what I say haha. It all makes sense up here... but not so much to anyone else!

I'd like to think I'm good at catching what people mean vs. what they say. Swing and a miss! I get the "non music / non lyrics" reservations.
Wanna hear mine?
Bad Drum machines. I know it might sound hypocritical considering I didn't have real drums on all Hguols and 3 Ankou Awaits albums, but if its done well, I don't mind it. Its when it sounds like... a typewriter or not even close to a real person drumming it.
Can't listen to it.

The "drumming" on the Hguols albums never distracted from my enjoyment. BUT I have heard some bands use it where it stands out horribly!

I think part of is the actual production - the other is the drum sounds. ...it really has to be a thumbs down on both for me not to like it.

If we can't tell if its anti-Christian... ...should we let it still impact us like it is?

Not sure if the following song qualifies, but when I heard the power metal singing at the end of Sanctifica's "The Wanderer" as a middle-schooler, I freaking lost it. Easily one of my favorite moments in black metal music, and one that I would love to replicate if I had the talent.

I forgot about that part of that song. It's very good indeed.
I just realized that the last keyboard riff before the acoustics is the same as one of the main guitar riffs from Riket...that's awesome.

Hey Kerrick, nothing released yet. I put music on hold for awhile to focus on family and career. Now that things have slowed down I am writing / recording new songs and working with a label to have a new album released this year or next.

So I'm Necrothreading this because of a band I found on YouTube. It was actually being made fun of on a spoof channel, but its some really awesome clean-vocals black metal.
The chick apparently has a pop project under her own name (Amalee Bruun) but she uses the same voice (in haunting layers) for this band...

The closest I can think of is Winterkou. I'm not very crazy about it myself, but you might like it? If I think of more, I'll post them here. There's always this, which isn't metal, but still sort of fits your criteria. I'm not actually sure who does this song - I'd originally found it on Pastor Vampire's YT channel, so I assume it's an Emperador song?
