Blackgaze being post-black that focuses on a rather dreamy atmosphere. That's the stuff that I like then.

Post-Black is when people who grew up listening to post-hardcore and screamo and post rock decided to make something as heavy as possible, instead having grown up listening to actual metal.
Blackgaze isn't necessarily about atmosphere. It's almost all about how the guitars are played and the setup. It requires at least one reverb pedal, delay pedal, fuzz pedal (preferably more than just one of each of the three), chorus pedal, etc. Typically these bands play on peavy or fender amps. The style of playing revolves around strumming chord progressions with typically simple melodies put on top of them. There is no need for the drummer to blast in this genre but sometimes they do. And vocals can have singing and growling

This is a good example of blackgaze.

Edificador posted a sample video on FB for his new album. I have no doubt a lot of people are going to like this, it sounds really good for what it is, but it doesn't sound like my kind of thing personally. I preferred the Monotonia mundana material from the first half of this video that was a lot faster / more brutal.

Definitely prefer the FB sample. The drums and production sounds way better than the YT song you posted.

How have I never heard of this project? I didn't even know that there was a Christian depressive black metal/dark ambient band!

Yeah I've never heard of them either. Do they have any physical copies of their material?

I just did a little research and it looks like cassettes were made of the most recent demo, and other than that, no.

I've never heard of this band either. How?! They have over 6,000 likes on facebook! I didn't even know that there was a Christian depressive black metal/dark ambient band! Forgotten Sorrow is DSBM. As for DSBM / dark ambient... not sure. The closest thing there would probably be Betheos Abshalom's more melancholic music.

I don't remember that at all. I usually remember the names of old deleted accounts, even the ones that never posted.

The guitar for 6 songs (out of 7) is now done. One to go, then the cello and the music is DONE!
Something happened during today's session that has never happened to me before. When I go to record, I always pray before. Its actually turned into a habit, something I never forget because I don't "feel" right recording until I got a dose of prayer.
WHILE I was in the middle of recording guitar, this need to prayer just showed up. I actually zoned out and started praying (in my mind) while I was playing the guitar. In like 30 seconds, I asked for this music to be blessed, for God's guidance in the notes, and that this project will turn out as a whole. When I was done, I was pretty sure I botched that take, but I listened to it - and the part was played perfectly!
I think I'm actually more overwhelmed NOW than I was during that prayer or reviewing the song. ...especially since I CANNOT "juggle" other things while I'm playing. I can't do out loud or in my head vocals/thoughts/conversations while playing guitar riffs, but today I somehow had the ability to say a prayer while recording guitar!
How cool is that?

A month or two ago, I messaged Mefiboseth (unblack band from Honduras) about a demo on their Myspace called "Hora novena". They said they were working on it, and they weren't kidding! They're officially signed to Eirene now, and I'm not certain, but it looks like their EP is coming out in about a month already! Here and here are two songs from their YouTube channel.

Orationem "Your Presence and Strength" is now completed. Set to release October/November 2016 through Vision of God Records. Limit 50 copies.
This is a huge triumph for me. I don't know how many artists create an album not only during cancer, but during IV chemotherapy. Its harsh, dissonant and pretty wild. I'm convinced my illness effected this album's sound. In the world of black metal, I think having a "sick" sound is an asset. As always with Orationem, the lyrics don't compromise. (very high JPM)
The Official Orationem channel will eventually contain the lyric videos of this entire album. For right now, you can preview 2 minutes of each track through this video.

Thomas, this sounds awesome. I think these are my favorite vocals that I've ever heard from you, and the way you blended the violins and cellos with the metal is great.
From the sound of this, you took my favorite element of just about every piece of music you've ever made and combined it all into one.

I can move pretty good at my 7 piece drumset for a guy all chemo'ed up, eh? LOL More than anything, I'm glad the neuropathy I do have doesn't interfere with playing drums, guitar or synth. It just has a dull pain that keeps me up at night and I have to wear gloves to get things out of the fridge/freezer. I'm glad people are looking forward to this Orationem album. I've been listening to this way too much myself. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Duane at Vision of God likes it a lot too.

Mefiboseth released a lyric video for a song from their upcoming EP. *Minor seizure warning, I guess. A few of the graphics in the video flash pretty quicklyA bit raw, but surprisingly dark compared to the demo tracks I found on Metal Honduras. It'll be interesting to have more music like this in the scene.
