What kind of video games (if any) do you guys play?
I'm currently playing ladder season 4 of Diablo III on PC. I've been playing Diablo 2 off and on since it came out, and D3 since it came out as well (with a break here and there of course).
I've played World of Warcraft of course. I run far, far away from it when I quit and then eventually go back to it a few years later.
I played the original Nintendo (Super Mario Bros, Metroid, Mike Tyson's Punchout!)...
then I migrated to the Sony PlayStation a while after the PS2 came out. I currently own a PS3 and PS4. I have the PS Move motion controllers for PS3 and my wife loves to play bowling and disc golf with me. I only recently got a PS4 (because I don't buy them when they are brand new and $600, I wait for the price to drop a bit) so I only have EA UFC (looking forward to the next one, I think there is a lot of room for improvement since EA Sports took over the franchise), and Batman: Arkham Knight (AMAZING game, best in the series!). I've enjoyed the Assassin's Creed series as well as strategy games (Civilization: Revolution most recently, but I used to play all the original Sim City games as well as Sim Ant <--- highly underrated, Sim Ant was such a good game!--played it all summer one year when I was younger).
But once again I am a huge Blizzard fan and will probably continue to play the Diablo series for many years to come.
What about you guys? Any gamers here?

I've really backed off, but I was a major console gamer back in the day. NES, SNES, PSX, PS2... I gamed almost every day and got these systems when they came out. PS3, I gamed every day for a year plus, got the system a few years after it came out, but fizzled out of console gaming.
GBA, PSP were my only handheld "consoles" I played.
The PSN (Playstation Network) killed my console gaming. That network is SHIT and when games rely on that, then, they're almost setup to fail. Also, games are extremely buggy compared to what they used to be. Skyrim is incredible, and I've spent countless hours playing it, but the older your save it, the more crazy it acts and it gets to the point to where you can't even play it.
My "ultimate" console game, and probably always will be is Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. ...but I'm an action RPG addict.
I think what it is... I just got tired of buying a system, buying a game until I complete every aspect of it, and then I have to go buy another system to get the next game I want... then the previous system is obsolete, no longer gets supported, etc. Yada yada yada. _______________________________________
Enough of what I don't play anymore, I do play Android games on my cell. I have no qualms putting some money down for well made games, but I will rip P2W up one side and down the other. (P2W meaning Pay to Win - not to be confused with P2U/Pay to Unlock which I will do for quality games)
A current favorite is Dungeon Hero RPG. Basic name but: - Its free. You can buy gems in bulk, or earn them from completing dungeons. - There's no Level cap (in other words, you can make your character stronger indefinitely) - Dungeons are random (you'll never play the same one twice) - Multiple dungeon skins ($.99 for each extra one) - There's an editor to make you're own dungeons ($1.99 to unlock) - Plays like an old school dungeon crawler
Some "pets" are goofy looking, but there are cool ones. Same with the heros. This video is played on PC through Steam, but the Android game looks/plays the same.

I used to game 24/7, until I realized I was making an idol of my games and not spending any time with God outside of church. So I pretty much quit lol not entirely tho, but I did quit after 9 years of non-stop World of Warcraft. that was really really hard, but now I don't even miss it. It just annoys me that my roommate plays WoW and Skyrim like 60+ hours a week, literally for 16 hours a day on thur/fri/sat (he's off those 3 days weekly).
Lately i have been playing quite a bit of Hearthstone, and if i choose to play a different game it's usually Rocket League. I was playing H1Z1 for a while, but the bloodbath of the gore was getting to me in it (like GTA).
I have Rainbow 6 Siege on pre-order but I might cancel it, not sure. tho if I can keep it in check with God first I'll be jamming on Star Wars Battlefront on the PC come November.
my steam id is izzy72, and my bnet is bigfella#1677, forgot what my origins one is >.<

Thomas, what part of PSN did you have issues with? Lag? If so, I totally feel your pain.
denith, Hearthstone is pretty sweet but I haven't played in months. I know what you mean about game content, I love open world sandbox games but GTA is too immature for me nowadays. We need a good open world cop game! Like, a police force RPG. That would be sweet!

Here's the video game series I've followed. Oldest first:
- Megaman (played and beat most of them - I was more of the fan of the X series. X4 is one of the best games ever IMO.) - Castlevania (I liked the "Castleroid/Metrovania" genres. I'm talking Symphony of the Night (one of the greatest games ever made), Aria of Sorrow (best portable Castlevania) and Lament of the Innocence was freaking awesome as well. - Legacy of Kain. I preferred Blood Omen over Soul Reaver, but its all good. Simon Templeton is hands down the best voice actor ever I don't care what everyone says I will arm wrestle you for it. I covered the Soul Reaver 1 & 2 theme songs for a Hguols single. - King's Field. I not only played these games to death, but was heavily involved in the King's Field community. King's Field The Ancient City (2001) me and a bunch of old Agetec forum mates were so chummy with the developers, they actually made us characters on the game. My character was Akryal, like the current project I had at the time. I got my hands on the King's Field Maker by From Software, and spent about a year total making two different free PC games that have a small cult following. (The games are Diadem of Maunstraut and Trismegistus. Hguols followers will recognize some of the music.)
I also made a game called The Field of Kings for PSP Homebrew and smartphone browser.
- Monster Hunter. Really, it was only 1 game I got into on the PSP, but it was a vast favorite of mine and I spent a lot of hours playing it. - Devil May Cry. I liked the second one despite what detractors said, but really - the first game was brilliant. - Elder Scrolls. Oblivion and Skyrim games only. - Dragon's Dogma. Makes sense that I love this game - made by Capcom and was pretty much like a mix of Skyrim, Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry.

Thomas, what part of PSN did you have issues with? Lag? If so, I totally feel your pain. Not lag at all actually. My internet is 50mb per second (amazing to have access to considering I live in a village and we only have a gas station) ...I had issues with dropped connections. PSN would CONSTANTLY drop. Every time it dropped and I was using Netflix or Hulu, it would stop and kick back to the menu. I think that happened probably 10,000 times and then one day 6 months ago, I exploded - unhooked my PS3 and its been gathering dust ever since.

I have decent connection as well (30 mb/s) but it still gets laggy sometimes. Maybe that's just average latency but I can't stand it (probably because most of the games I try to play online are fighting games and you REALLY need reaction time for those).

And insanely difficult. - I have always been a big Castlevania fan SotN was a classic. It was always the music on the series that grabbed me. - Legacy of Kain was great I wish they were still making more. Did you ever play Legacy of Kain: Defiance? Was when Kain and Raziel teamed up. Wasn't the best game but wasn't bad by any means. Lately I have been playing two of the episodic games on Xbox 360. Life is Strange and Tales from the Borderlands. Life is Strange is absolutely great if your into the classic adventure games where you basically walk around, inspect things in a room and interact with them or talk to people. Its basically a mystery with some time travel elements. I've also been playing Borderlands 2 occasionally, been playing through True vault hunter mode out of boredom mostly to level up. Some of my work buddies got me started on League of Legends but I don't play a whole lot.

That sounds like a pretty cool game. What is the action like? Is it a button masher or more like a Heavy Rain type deal, or is it open world/linear or what?

- I have always been a big Castlevania fan SotN was a classic. It was always the music on the series that grabbed me. I agree. I'm sure you could probably recognize it from the Hguols cover I did. - Legacy of Kain was great I wish they were still making more. Did you ever play Legacy of Kain: Defiance? Was when Kain and Raziel teamed up. Wasn't the best game but wasn't bad by any means. Yes, I played that. The combo system was good, but the AI needed help. (While I was comboing one enemy, the rest of the enemies would just strafe in a fighting stance. It would have been much better if they tried to attack as well.) My personal favorite was Blood Omen 2. I love torturing those peasants and I liked the fighting the best. (especially being able to behead enemies) There were also "charms" to the combat. (pun intended - using Charm on peasants controlled them, but using it on enemies stunned them, making them ripe for a grapple/beheading - if you're quick enough. Also, a grapple throw was the perfect distance to use that Jump skill on the enemy) I've been playing this game called Sword King on my phone. Its totally one of these "clicker grinds"... but I love grinding just to grind. As long as I can keep moving up...

Theres not a lot of action really, any action usually takes place in dialogue, and you really just make choices on what to do during dialogues. Like this: If you play it I recommend not looking up spoilers because there are some really big cliffhangers in the game. The story really sucks you in, at least it has for me.

I used to play Assassins Creed online for Xbox (Revelations, III, Black Flag) I just loved playing it online, spend like 3 years playing it online non-stop. Then they released 2 more games without the online part and I gave up on the series, plus I was not willing to pay $60 to play Black Flag online to see every team member running around when that's not part of how you are supposed to play (unless you want to be found and killed by the enemy!) and wasn't willing to buy Xbox One to play the other games. In all honestly, I feel like I bought an Xbox just to play AC, I never bought any other games or bothered checking other games.
This month I bought Super Mario Maker and Splatoon. Splatoon really surprised me as I was kind of disappointed with the demo but decided to buy it anyway (had some extra cash from my birthday) and I don't regret it. Very fun to play and best of all: free! hahaha and Mario Maker is awesome if you are into sand box-type of games and like to create levels for others to play.

I mostly play sports games you know Football, Basketball, Baseball, But I also love WWII, Civil War and Vietnam war video games as well. However when I play olypmics, Bodie Miller Skiing or Assassins Creed I get so addicted to them that I can literally play for 10 hours straight.

I've got the old Legendary Edition on my PS3. Been playing Ire: Blood Memory on my phone because it's like Dark Souls.

With the occasional exception, the only video games I really play these days are GTA: San Andreas and LSD Dream Emulator. To be clear, both games do have a bit of questionable content (GTA has a lot more than LSD) but I'm not convicted by either game, so I enjoy them. Both games have pretty large / open / varied environments, which is something I always like. LSD Dream Emulator in particular is very weird, and a lot of people find it disturbing, so of course I enjoy it a lot.

Wish PS2 emulation was better. Or there was a mobile emulator like their is for about everything else. (DS, GBA, PSP, N64, etc.)

I used to have pcsx2, but it was way too slow on my computer. We're talking <1 FPS. Not sure how it'd be on a newer computer, but I vaguely recall one of my friends also complaining about how slow it was.

The other night I FINALLY beat Bioshock 2! Now I gotta beat Uncharted 3... It's been a long time since I dusted off my 'ol Playstation 3 but in small doses it's pretty fun!

I thought about grinding on Skyrim Legendary Edition again. I'm not the slightest bit interested in story, but like my Ire game that I've been religiously playing...
I just want so smash things with a giant sword.

So it's crunch time for my wife's writing [she's working on a PhD] and it will be to the fall. She needs time to focus which means I'll have a little more time for hobbies and such. Can folks recommend me good games for the Playstation 3? I just beat Uncharted 3 and have really enjoyed that series. (Too bad #4 is only for the PS4...) I also have the first two Bioshock games and the Killzone series. I'm considering getting the Metal Gear pack that has basically all the games from the stuff on the old Nintendo to Metal Gear Solid 4. I used to have MGS 2 for the PS2 and thought it was pretty cool. I was looking at Bioshock 3 and The Last Of Us but I'm not sure I want to get games that are quite that violent and gruesome. Thanks!

If you like sandbox type games, you might dig Infamous1 or Infamous2. I didn't care for them, but I'm stuck in a rut as far as what games I like...

^Those games got stellar reviews and when Sony got hacked, they gave everyone two free games to download from a list of like six or so. I downloaded the first Infamous and it wasn't quite my thing. Generally I like shooters and adventure type games.

Generally I like shooters and adventure type games. I have a PS3 but only played it a few times. I do Xbox One instead, BUT there is a game I played for awhile on Xbox 360 that was fun, although the story was horrendous, Just Cause 2. I believe Just Cause 3 came out awhile back on both Xbox One and PS3. Its a fun game if you enjoy just causes chaos and havoc in a big sandbox world. Just cause 2 had a terrible terrible story and awful voice acting, but for me I just had a blast playing it and just running around doing my own thing. I'm not too sure about Just Cause 3, but on Just Cause 2 you had a grappling hook that you could shoot and hook onto pretty much anything, buildings, cars, people whatever. Then you can attach the other end of the grapple to something as well. Many times I would shoot a helicopter with my grappling hook, then shoot the other end to a person, so they would be carried away with the chopper, or use it to attach an enemy to my car and drive through the desert. It was a lot of fun though. Id watch some videos before investing in it though. Just don't expect to get much more out of it besides some fun though, because story wise it was pretty awful. I never played the 3rd though

I've heard those games are super fun though I was never able to get into the whole GTA/sandbox style game. I much prefer a good story. That's why I'm drawn towards the MGS games, though I showed my wife a couple trailers and she just eye-rolled at how corny they looked, as if a 13 year old kid came up with the plot and dialog. I may just go with Bioshock Infinite...
